Friday Funkadelic

Post by 60WinTim »

I just listened to yesterday's Funkadelic:

http://www.kfan.com/media/podcast-dan-barreiro-kfan-fm-1003-KFAN_Barreiro/1122-4p-fliprusso-24012755/

Just to clear a couple of things up... Flip says AK turned down 3 years, 7 mil per year. Also says we would not have either K-Mart or Brewer had AK not opted out. [ ME: not sure I agree with him, but that is what he said. ]

I don't pay attention to rumors this time of year, but this was brought up by Barreiro: Kings have an interest in D-Will.

This would not surprise me: D-Will for Chuck Hayes and a 2014 first round pick, with top-3 (or more?) protection. Hayes could potentially dislodge Dante as the backup PF...

That Kings first rounder would be beautiful. I don't even care who the player we get back is as long as a first rounder's involved.

Anybody who trades for DWill is going to get far more than top-3 protection, most likely full lottery protection. At this point I would suggest his value isn't much higher than was Beasley's so there is simply no way we get a top ten pick. The fact that he hasn't had the off court issues may well buy a mid to late first round pick though.

I couldn't agree more, SP...I think that's why Tim suggested top 3 protected, or more. Sac-town has to know they're going to the lottery in this stacked draft, and they're not going to give up that pick for damaged goods like Williams. That's the other point that Flip made yesterday...that nobody is interested in Williams. Barreiro had to push the Kings' rumor. Hayes isn't getting off the bench for them, and I think a swap of Williams for Hayes and a lottery-protected pick might be acceptable to both clubs. I know I would take it.

I was thinking about the Kings as a trade partner the other day. I don't see the Kings surrendering a pick at all, however. I could see a package centered around Derrick and maybe Lexy going for some combination of Thornton, Salmons, Patterson or Hayes.

If we can wrangle a 1st rounder with fairly limited protection out of Sacramento, I'd be all for it. As for Chuck Hayes, he's really more of a Center in a PFs body. I don't think he'd play much next to Pekovic. He would back him up. And frankly, I think we have a better version of Hayes in Turiaf. But it never hurts to have another guy that is familiar with Adelman's system.

A lottery protected 1st rounder from the Kings is no draft pick at all since the Kings are a sure lottery team this season and a likely one the next several years. I would hope the deal would include Thornton.

If there is interest in Derrick Williams, and he hasn't been moved yet, what in the world is keeping him here?

Flip and Rick just need to come to the conclusion that they need to get rid of him knowing all too well they may get the short end of the deal now and later.

I wouldn't think that the Kings would want D-Will. I can't imagine they would want to put him close to someone as volatile as Cousins.

Williams has to go. He has no place here. Problem is... neither does Chuck Hayes. I don't see any reason to bring Chuck Hayes to the Wolves. He doesn't protect the rim. He can't provide offense with the second unit. He won't help the team win NOW.

As for the 1st rd pick... I don't see it. But if it did happen, it's definitely protected and a ways out.

So, how does that help a team desperate to win NOW?
