In my eyes no matter what happens the season was a huge success. Sano, Buxton, and Kepler in for majors. Sano crushing it. We have a winning record. Just need some of our pitchers to develop and find a catcher. Hope Mauer rebounds or retires. It can't be fun for him anymore with him not having the skills he used to have.

Yeah, I'm anxious to see if our Twins can muster another run. I'd like to see this team rewarded for their determination and resolve with a playoff experience. Every time I gave up on this group of guys this season I was proved wrong. They'd have a really rough stretch and then follow it with a string of wins to get right back in the race. We need to win both today and get two from Kansas City to even have a chance. Of course, we'll need some help, but the Twins can't worry about that.
Before the season, I hoped for a .500 season, and the Twins have given me that. It'll hurt if we come up just short for the playoffs, but they've already exceeded expectations in some ways. As far as player success, I think we could argue this much:
Great seasons: Sano, Rosario, Plouffe, Escobar, Hicks, Duffey. Milone, Gibson, Boyer, May, O'Rourke, Jepsen (for as long as we've had him)
Mixed-bag: Dozier, Mauer, Perkins, Pelfrey, Hughes, Hunter, Suzuki
Poor seasons: Nolasco, Fien, Duensing, Santana, Vargas, Buxton (wasn't prepared for this level, injury set him back too)
Why are you still in the big leagues: Hermann

I agree this season was a success either way. Not much to add there.
Cam good break down of the individual players I agree with all except one.
I sorta agree with what you said but if Dozier is a mixed bag give me a bunch of those guys. I know he struggled down the stretch but it was a heck of a season for him. You would take those numbers from a power position and he did it as a middle infielder.

Yeah, I'm nervous about today jester. Cleveland has two very good pitchers going against us, and we have Gibson and Pelfrey...both have had brilliant moments this year, but both have also had some really bad outings. Maybe they can both put together a good game today.
It's interesting that even though the Twins are behind two teams (Angels and Astros) for the last playoff spot, we actually control our own destiny. Since those guys play each other this weekend, the worst we can be is tied for the last wild card if we win out. Now, let's get it done.

Actually LST they don't play each other. Angles play Texas and Astros play the Dbacks for some reason.

Thx for the correction. jester. Same conclusion though...we still control our own destiny. We at least get to a playoff game if we run the table. If we win the rest of our games, we finish with 75 losses., and Houston already has 75 losses. The only way California can finish with fewer would be if they swept Texas this weekend, but in that case Texas would have at least 75 losses. So we just have to keep winning to at least get to a game 163, and maybe even a game 164!

Pelfrey is the biggest piece of crap, he should never been in this stupid rotation. You have a top arm in triple A in Berrios. You could say hey the moment would be to big for him but it doesn't get much worse the crap Pelfrey just threw up there. I'm so livid right now.

Welcome aboard the Pelfrey-Hate Train. Plenty of seats left. I talked about how awful he's been post-All-Star break about a month ago. I can't believe the Twins playoff chances might be over tonight because of the garbage named Pelfrey. Isn't that great!?
To top it off, we have a young stud named Berrios that would have been a much better option for this stretch. Maybe I'm hyping up Berrios because he's been my guy for a a little while now, but I feel like he would have stepped up to the challenge. Not to mention he has much better stuff than Pelfrey. Not even close.
