Flip is a huge dissapointment

Post by Papalrep »

Glen Taylor has been quoted as saying that he always thought Flip was a better GM than coach. So what does he do? He allows Flip to hire himself.

There have been serious injuries, and the line up is depleted, I know. But shouldn't we be able to identify at least a defensive philosophy? Long twos instead of threes? The team looks completely disorganised to me.

Mchale just resigned with Houston, he was in the wrong job here. Either Wittman or Dwayne Casey would be better then Flip. Mchale fired both of them and Flip. Now Flip is back and in the wrong job as coach. This is Flip being prideful and self indulgent in my opinion. And it all goes back to Tayler. Has this team ever been competently managed?

Moving on from "Wiggins is a huge disappointment"?!? ;-)

I completely agree that the defense has been a huge disappointment. But it's not easy to lay the blame at any one person's feet so early in the season. Defensive schemes can take a long time for players to adapt and be effective with their teammates, especially with the number of inexperienced players we are trotting out onto the court. And an argument can be made that Flip just does not have the pieces necessary to implement a competent defense, with rebounding from our PF spot topping the list of deficiencies.

I don't have a problem with Flip being the one who oversees our roster overhaul, and then bring in a coach to manage a more finely tuned roster. Because a competent coach is more likely to come aboard if the tuning is mostly complete.

Tim, Philadelphia and Milwuakee also have very young squads with plenty of player turnover recently, yet they boast defenses that are in the upper half of the league.

Flip is similar to Adelman in that he seems to gravitate toward offense. Joerger would have been such the perfect coach for this squad since defense is clearly a priority for him.

Q, i agree that joerger would have been ideal for this team. To flip and glens credit, they where all set to hire him. But the memphis owner came to his senses and smooth things over with him and joerger made the correct choice of staying with a ready and proven team that he help mold in the first place.

I do think now that flip is the right coach for us this season. I dont agree with some of his philosophies and thinks he assembled a weak ciaching staff around him but in terms of wanting to develop the young guys and see them succeed long term, flip is doing it right.

No other coach would dare start lavine after 4 games but flip. It may not work out well thus season but it will in the future.

Look, no matter who is the coach, we will all find something to complain about him. I look at this season as a develop the young guys long term season since rubio, pek and martin got injured. Flip might as well coach it this season since he has a lot at stake for tge long term development of the young guys. Whether he should remain coach after this season or for the long term is for another debate.

Well many people expected to be disappointed with Flip at coach. I was not very enthusiastic about it. I hated the long 2 offense and some had me believe that different personnel would lead to a different offense. Well this team shoots a lot of long 2s with a foot on the line. Coincidence? I am hoping that at some point Flip falls in love with an available coach and steps down. Maybe Hoiberg. Otherwise this team will need some very good mid range shooters ala Brandon or Cassell to make this work.

The future coach philosophy is this for Flip:

1. call Hoiberg every year and see if he wants to leave his dream job

2. eventually hire his son to take over.

It's ridiculous

Flip is not the problem here. Youth, and more important, injuries to key players, are. John Wooden in his prime could not of gotten much more out of this squad as it stands right now.

He's not the biggest problem, but in all fairness his style is outdated and he could be focusing much more on defense. But even if he was, we still wouldn't be winning games and we would be even a bigger chore to watch.

I'm disappointed in everyone. Lets just sell the team so we don't have to ever watch them again!

PS: This is pretty damn funny haha
