Rondo to Mavs
Rondo to Mavs
Rondo for Branden Wright, Jameer Nelson, Jane Crowder, future 1st and 2nd.
I know Boston's hands were just about tied but I figured they could do better than that for sure.

Same. I feel like Dallas just STOLE him from Boston and the rest of the NBA let it happen.
Re: Rondo to Mavs
Reports from Boston people are that Rondo really hasn't been quite the same after all the injuries. Maybe the losing hasn't helped either, but he hasn't exactly come back and dominated. I think this is why they didn't get more of a haul.

8 PPG, 11 APG, 7.5 RPG, 2 SPG. Three triple doubles and plenty of almost-trip-dubs to boot. His efficiency could be better, but tough to say he wasn't dominating. And he has "star power" in this league. Boston could have done better, imo.

also 33% FT and lackluster D by all accounts. He can still do what he does on offense. I am just relaying what Boston fans who I know are saying. Rondo used to dominate games, and now just contributes statistically on offense.

Re: Rondo to Mavs
I never felt Rondo's value was that high. Between his age, injury history and apparent bad attitude, I am not surprised this is all they got. Actually it might be a little lower than expected if the picks are from Dallas. I have always felt his efficiency was inflated in the years he played with the big 3. I do expect to see the efficiency go up, now that he has some shooters around him again. Should make it easier to get to the hoop.
Will be curious to see if Dallas has already negotiated an extension with him. Heard he was asking for a max deal in the off season. That just seems way too high, and I doubt Cuban will give that up to keep him. Still, it is a pretty low risk when you consider they are giving up lower half first and second rounders with some average vets.

Great trade for the mavs. Rondo is a lot like rubio, his value and worth to the team is the intangibles he bring and the way he run the offense.
Dallas is an ideal fit for him. Him and monta gives them two attacking guards and then you have dirk and parsons as good shooting forwards and chandler in the middle to grab rebounds and lead the defense. Carlise is an underrated coach. They would need a big to replace wright in the rotation though but its a win trade for them and makes them a threat in the west.

I'm sure his game will elevate with something to play for. At any rate, Rondo is a top 10 pg. They didn't even receive a top 100 player in exchange nor a highly touted prospect. The picks will likely be late round. They got fleeced. In my opinion Rondo is the best passer today ... the mavs just got a ton better.

The Mavs are playing for now. Dirk is not getting younger. I hope this works out for them.
