I refuse to join in with all of you Kevin Love bashers...it's not his fault the Cavs are underachieving...

Hilarious. It is not only his fault. Defense is not important anyway. He is going to be the scapegoat for that team though.

I agree that it's not only his fault. James has been underperforming, maybe because he was hurt, and Irving cannot sustain consistent defense. And the team lacks depth.

But Love's defensive shortcomings will always make him an attractive target on an underachieving team that can't stop anyone.

It was a great strategy for them to acquire a great volume scorer only to proceed to take the volume away from him. If they were expecting his defense to get better then they just scouted him completely wrong. I think we'll see a bump in their play with Mozgov manning the middle as he is a decent rim protector. It's funny that Bosh was the second best player in Miami and Love is the second best player in Cleveland and yet it is the big men being asked to sacrifice the most by the ball dominant guards and wings. Now that we have Wiggins, we should honestly make a play to bring him back to MN for the max. We're going to have a top draft pick. Could you imagine getting Towns or Okafor and then offer Love the max? How does he not turn that down? Ricky/Martin/Wiggins/Love/Dieng with vet PG/Lavine/Bazz/Towns/Pek off the bench is a playoff team in the West. With Ricky and Wiggins bottling up the opposing team's best guards/wings and Love being the guy getting boards behind Dieng's shot altering attempts instead of Thad, that defense would be good enough with the offense we saw from the team last year to win a lot of games. The problem with last year's team was Brewer being a turnstile on defense gambling for steals and Pek not being a shot alteration specialist in the paint created massive defensive holes in key areas around Love. Now those are upgraded to Wiggins and Dieng and that is a huge upgrade to what is needed around Love to be successful. Then eventually Towns takes over for Dieng as the C as a better shot blocker with more athleticism and size long-term with Wiggins continually developing, that is a big time team moving forward. A lot would have to go right and I wouldn't go after him if we didn't get Towns, but that is a team I think we would all be happy with.

I have to admit, I've had many thoughts about somehow bringing Love back to Minnesota. With the team we have right now + draft pick, it'd actually be a good fit for us. Love probably doesn't want to return, though. He'll likely sign somewhere that's already competitive.

(How nice would it be if Flip and Kevin thought of this way back before the season started... Unrealistic, I know)

We have no business pointing out any other teams or players weaknesses playing defense... :-(

They don't have the cap room to sign Love to a max contract which means they would have to do a sign and trade. Who are you going to give up, and what of that dream roster is left afterwards?

Edit: I think the big news in those links is how Love is apparently an outsider with his teammates once again. He had said he was closest with the equipment guy in Minnesota rather than the team. Love's attitude sucks, always has, and clearly even when surrounded by great players that won't change.

Love could be the biggest jerk in the world and I'd still want him on my team. Period.

Realistically, I dont see love ever coming back even if we have cap space. I would love to see love on this team though. Ive always been a fan of the player. Love/rubio/wiggins would have been great together. Never going to happen though.

There are 2 scenarios for love this off season. He either stick to his claim of wanting to win and resign with the cavs to be the 3rd wheel( Kyrie has shown this season that he is not going to take a backseat to anyone other than bron). Or he go back on his claim of wanting to win now and sign with the lakers or even the knicks with phil. I dont see him going anywhere else except those 3 teams with the lakers as the most likely destination at the moment. If that happens, cleveland would get screwed again.
