Read this article his morning. Thought it was pretty interesting, particularly the quotes from Curry's agent.

Re: 2009 Draft
Interesting article SJM, but I thought we all agreed to never discuss the 2009 draft again! Haha.
Re: 2009 Draft
I was surprised to hear the agent admit that he was pushing Steph to NY. There had been chatter that Steph refused to workout or even interview with the wolves and that he was adamant about not playing for them, but Steph and his agent apparently pulled the same thing with GS. GS still took him anyway, and the rest is history.
I find it amusing that Kahn took as much crap as he did about the two PG thing (or 4 if you are a complete idiot like most media members), but there was never a mention of it in GS with 6'3 Ellis waiting as Steph's pairing. Also funny that we didn't hear much bashing on Walsh for not taking a PG at the time. I do remember there being multiple rumors that Walsh wanted Ricky, not Steph.

To be fair, Monta Ellis wasn't a PG offensively. Early in his career... he had Baron Davis next to him. After Davis, Ellis had a 25-game season where he averaged 3.7 assists... good for 3rd best on the team.

To be fair, Ellis was coming back from an injury and was playing with Jamal Crawford who plays combo guard similar to Ellis. Curry was averaging less than 4 ast during his college career, and wasn't considered a true PG either, but both were undersized to play the SG position defensively, and both were considered to be poor defenders overall.
Ellis managed over 5 assists a game for the next three seasons on GS.

Curry played PG his junior year after Jason Richards graduated. But yes, he was considered to be a combo guard. As was Jamal Crawford.
Still doesn't change the fact that the article was misleading in calling Ellis a point guard. He never really was on offense. (and I was clear to use the term "offensively" because of the problems defensively with their size.)
