I just got back from the game. I wanted to give a few impressions without knowing any of the stats from the game (other than Wiggins scored 29).
First off, the arena, for the most part, was dead. Those who were there got into the game as much as they could, but it was tough. Right now this franchise is feeling the pain of losing it's superstar player, and then on top of that 4 starters. Then pile on being out of the playoffs for 10 years, etc., and there is no hype around this team at all.
But, it was nice to see those who are still left standing put up a strong effort. Wiggins scored 29, which was awesome, but I'm guessing he missed about 60% of his shots at least (as I said I haven't seen the stats yet). But who cares how many he missed, I loved the fact that he kept trying to score. And for a 19 year old, he has some moves that most guys will never have. He's as fluid as an athlete as I have ever seen. And overall I thought his handle was decent. He needs to work on it, yes, but he's getting to where he wants on the court. Bottom line is: this guy is going to be awesome. And it might be sooner than later. My prediction is by the second half of next year he is going killing people every night.
Lavine: This was the best I've seen him play. And he wasn't great by any means ,but I thought he looked more comfortable than he has so far. He's an attacker, and needs to play like one. Ricky is the smooth operator, but Lavine is better served when he is using his superior quickness and athleticism off the dribble. For now, he's a poor man's Westbrook. Very poor.
Gorgui: I really like his complete game. He needs work defending the post, he needs to get stronger and smarter, but he brings a lot of intangibles to the game. Right now I'd say if Pek is healthy, he and Gorgui are a wash as far as who should be starting.
I could comment on some other players but I'm going to leave it at that. But overall at least the game was entertaining, and for a team missing 4 starters we played pretty well. It's just tough to win when at times you're playing Robbie Hummel at center. I mean, think about it, your front line is Hummel, Bud and Shabazz. But this is the Timberwolves, so you grin and bear it.
There's a lot of hope here, but it's going to be ugly for a while. Really ugly.

Thanks for the great report.
We really are lacking in bigs. Luckily this years draft seems to be full of them and we have some size options in europe.
