Bud drawing some interest
Bud drawing some interest
Woj tweeted the Wolves are shopping Bud but it sounds like from Wolfson and Krawczynski other teams have expressed interest more than Wolves shopping him. I'm on the fence on Bud but if some team would take him off our hands I wouldn't hate it. We have so many young players and Wolfson said GR3 has impressed so far so it seems likely he is sticking. If I was Flip idk if I would just give him away because IF HEALTHY he can actually play and is a 3 point threat. On the other hand not having to pay him next year could be really handy.

Interesting that this rumour is coming out so close to season opener.
Sounds like Houston and Detroit are the teams interested. It would have to be a salary dump as we have no roster spots available for any incoming salaries.
I feel Hummel can replicate Buds numbers for a fifth of the price and this would allow us to keep GR3.

I hate trading a guy when his value is at it's lowest. Whats really the point of trading Bud? You won't get anything for him. The Wolves shouldn't be caring about dumping salary at this point. If he sucks this year, stick him at the end of the bench who cares. If's he's healthy, he's the perfect player for the Wolves. Moves well and hits 3's. People forget how good Bud was for that time we didn't have Rubio or Love at the beginning of Bud's first year

I don't want Hummel playing enough to the point of trying to replicate Bud

Good riddance. He is not worth the money on the bench.

I like this only if they take jj with him. If we could pull off trading for some euro stash that would be perfect for us getting playing time to all our young guys.

I wouldn't want seeing Bug get any more than 12mpg to be honest. Paying a guy 5 mil a season to do that isn't ideal. Therefore if you can unload him, you unload him. I'm sure LeVine, Muhammad, Brewer, GR3 and Hummel gives us enough depth and upside as rotation wings.
I'd prefer Barea to go but atleast he's an expiring.
Re: Bud drawing some interest
I think obvious value of trading Bud now is you don't have to worry about paying him next year but that's really only a worry if he sucks and or gets hurt again. If he is solid you can either be ok paying him next year or someone will trade for an expiring shooter or if he plays well he opts out and signs another deal. Basically Like someone said earlier why trade him now? If the Wolves get something for him then yeah but who is gonna offer up anything that makes you want to trade a 26 year old athlete that can shoot? Bottom line is I don't think Flip is gonna give Bud away someone will have to give something decent up to get him.
I get people want JJ gone but there is a glut at Wing and while there is a glut at PG if Williams or Rubio went down Lavine would be the backup. That may be fine for him getting minutes but having JJ around wouldn't be so awful in that case. I still think the guy can play so I value him more thanm most here. I won't shed any tears if he is gone though! Lol
Could Hummel do what Bud does within reason? Maybe I like Hummel as people know but Bud when healthy was a legit rotation player I'll give him his due there. Hummel might be able to be solid and hit shots but he has to prove that first no doubt. Its gonna be interesting who gets cut. There is still quite a bit of time for something to happen between games and practices.

Didn't he play around 7 games before getting hurt?
I agree we could use his 3pt shooting, but he hasn't even been good at that while with the wolves. He has been a huge liability on D since his injury, and wasn't that good before it. I say you trade him for a bag of peanuts. If you can get a 2nd rounder or an expiring I would do it.

If you can get anything for him, and I mean ANYTHING - trade him.
