Dario Saric

Post by mjs34 »

Was reading this morning that he has been inactive for his first two games, and that his father is furious about it. Apparently he signed a new two deal with Efes before this years draft, and there is no buyout in the contract.

What seems really odd is that players pay teams over seas to let them out of their contracts, while the NBA (the premiere league worldwide) pays the players. It seems like we hear about a couple of players that want out of their contracts (in the NBA) each season, and then the team and the player agree to a buyout and the player joins a contender.

I guess I understand the buyout if the idea is to save the team money, but it seems odd that it works the other way over seas. I would like to see the NBA do away with that practice altogether, because I don't think they should be able to get a buyout and then join another team in the same season. It makes it much tougher for borderline PO teams to compete against the contenders when they are able to add talent at discount prices. It's just another way that they circumvent the salary cap, if only for half the season.

I was thinking about the CBA that is coming up. What if they added a 10M Lottery Level Exception to teams that didn't make the playoffs. It would give them a leg up on some free agents. (cap it at 2 years with a team option for 3rd)

Also I would love to see the lottery taken away. To prevent tanking they could take the pool of money used for revenue sharing and tier the payout by finishing place. The higher you finish and you are under the cap the more money you would get. Just a few thoughts.
