wow he looks extremely legit scoring the ball, multiple moves, speed, power, finishing ability, crossover, etc. I 'm pretty nervous to see how bad his rebounding and defense really is but on offense he is dynamite and the perfect type of player to run with Rubio.

Watching highlights of Young it is evident he excels at scoring around the rim. Not much of an outside game but he is capable of hitting a deep two and 3 pointer keeping defenders honest. He is actually pretty good in one on one situations and at creating space to get off a shot.

Defensively he's is going to hussle and get you steals. He is an improving shot blocker, but certainly not a rebounder. Hopefully Pek, Dieng, Bennett and even Wiggins pick up the slack in this department which is what we'll miss most with Love's departure.

All in all a solid replacement and a good fit with the young core and Rubio. Hats off to Flip!

For balance shouldn't we show a video of Luc and Lexi's 2014 highlights! :)

I don't know anyone who isn't happy about this deal. Young has always played hard, and may play even harder in Minnesota because he is so grateful to be away from the always tanking 76ers. Yes, he s not a good rebounder or interior defender, but that's one of the reasons we are getting him for Luc, Lexi and a pick that might be about #20. And he is a versatile offensive player, athletic, an excellent perimeter defender and by all reports, a great teammate.

Flip has played this off-season like a Russian chess grandmaster!

We should make a Thad Young stat projection page. I'd be curious to see what members of the board think he'll put up next year with Rubio.

And LST can project 4 RPG for him. Lol

Well, it kind of helps when all you see are the highlights of an 82-game season where thousands of minutes were logged. The guy barely averaged 18 points per game last season and that was by far the most he had ever averaged. The result was that his efficiency plummeted to well below his career average. He's simply not capable of carrying a heavy load offensively without seriously compromising efficiency. Once Pek and Martin get hurt, unfortunately he'll probably end up being our top offensive option. That's not a good role for him.

(by the way, I like Thaddeus Young. I just don't think he's more than a 3rd or 4th offensive option on a good team).

Agreed, thats why I hope Bennett by the end of the year is good enough to start, also I don't think it is a lock that Young opts out at the end of the year, does he really think he is a lock to get more than 9 mil a year. He would be the perfect 6th man

Young as a fourth option means your starting lineup is really stacked. He's a really good third option on most, if not all, teams. I'd bet that he's our second best scorer next year.

Bennett won't beat out Young for a starting spot. I'm 100% sure on that and we can look back on this post if needed. Two reasons for that: 1. Young's on a completely different (positive) level on defense. Elite guarding the P&R. Can switch on perimeter players without causing concern. Great at creating TOs. Bennett can't do anything defensively. 2. Young's much more efficient on offense. Better finisher at the rim, better off ball and not a black hole on offense.

Underrate Young as people have his whole career. Seems like he feeds on it anyway. I'm really glad Flip acquired him.

Hey, don't sell my boy Thad short. He averaged 4.9 RPG at Georgia Tech...he's gotta get 5 in the pros!
