Thank You Kevin Love

Post by kekgeek »

Now that the trade has been confirmed by a lot of media outlets, national and local. I think it is time to thank Kevin Love. Even though you are a crybaby sometimes, you were one hell of a player. IMO a top 7 player in the NBA, and I will miss what you brought to the table. I will miss the 24 and 12 every night, second best player in wolves history, to bad you could not get us to the playoffs (not putting all the blame on him).

Thank you Kevin

By the 2015-2016 season, I think we will be better than we were during Love's last season here.

Honestly, I'd rather have Kevin Love thank me. He has received tens of millions of dollars over the past 6 years, some of it out of my pocket for season tickets, and hasn't been able to deliver even one playoff game. Kevin has received a lot more from the fans than he has given back.

But I ultimately get to Doper's sentiment...Kevin's inflated stats are bringing us Wiggins, Bennett and Young, three guys who I will have a much easier time cheering for. So, thank you Kevin................................................

and don't let the door hit you on the way out :D .

So much bullshit in one post. You're by far the saltiest Minnesota fan when it comes to Kevin Love, and the majority of the time it's unjustified.

In posts like these, you always ignore the front office's many mistakes while blaming Kevin Love for not being able to take Darko Milicic, Wes Johnson and other scrubs to the playoffs.

Always ignoring the fact he wasted years of his career playing under the worst head coach of all-time, Kurt Rambis, and a disinterested old man who had problems at home (not his wife's fault, hope she's healthy) distracting him, Rick Adelman.

Always ignoring the Wolves 2011 season where they were playoff bound as an 8-seed until ROY candidate Ricky Rubio tore his ACL.

Always ignoring that Love wanted the five-year max contract to STAY in Minnesota and play for us, THE FANS, but our GM and owner were too arrogant to give it to him. This off-season Glen Taylor even said it himself that it was a mistake to not give Love the five year deal he wanted.

And then the inflated stats comment, which is laughable. Even if a player was stat-hunting, which he wasn't, he's still accomplishing things no other player in the history of the game has been able to do. He's in comparison with Hall of Fame talents for his elite scoring and rebounding as well. All things I've repeated on this board numerous times, but I have yet to see you say when you make a post about him leaving.

You often blame Love for having too large of an ego, but I think it is you who should tone it down when you get to talking like Love owes the fans anything. He did his best. He was a warrior night in and night out. He didn't have sufficient help around him for the majority of his career and he was also disrespected by the man that signs his checks. All of these reasons are why a lot of Minnesota fans understand WHY Love wanted out and don't hate him for it. That's where I stand as well and I will admit that I'm annoyed we couldn't get it done with Love, but I'm even more annoyed by the disrespect Love continues to receive whether it's on this board, another board or from the national media.

Cam....I'm in agreement with all you said. KLove was never the problem and I have nothing but respect for him and his game. It'll be fun to watch the new kids but I'll definitely keep an eye on KLove in Cleveland and root for him to succeed.

I'll assume tribute...

Thanks Kevin for working your butt off changing your body into a fantastic basketball player overachieving at nearly every stage of you career. You were just going to be another David Lee, could never score 20ppg, shouldn't be jacking up 3's, should have been traded to move up in the draft for players that will likely never be as good as you were than and almost for sure now will not be. You have turned into a dynamic player and one of the top scorers in the league with potential to be even better. Thanks for being a guy that was worth spending money on Broadband League pass for a few years. Thanks for some terrific memories. Thanks for deciding to leave at a time when we could optimize the return we could get for you. :) Have fun in Clevland I guess hopefully we don't miss you too much.

Yeah, I don't get the inflated stats accusation LST. So would you have rather him not score efficiently and rebound so much?

On/Off numbers are a simple way to cross-check a player's team impact against their box score output. Other than Love's rookie year, our team ALWAYS did better while he was on the court versus off the court, including the year he was hurt and couldn't shoot for shit. This trend pre-dates Rubio, so we can't say it's all because he played with Ricky. And in most of those seasons, including last year, it was a very significant difference.

I understand that Love isn't always easy to root for as a person. But he is a tremendous basketball player whose front office failed him during his tenure in Minnesota.

Thank you for raising your hands on missed foul calls and not getting back on D in Cleveland.
