Barea, LMAM and Shved on the block
Barea, LMAM and Shved on the block
This certainly comes as no surprise but according to a league source Flip is shopping Barea, LMAM and Shved hard to create roster spots and clear cap space. This
My question is who would want them? They are all expiring contracts which may hold some value to teams looking to clear cap space for 2015.
Barea had a shocker last season, but his 4.5 mil expiring contract and championship experience holds at least some value. My concern is that he should already be gone. Would Dallas want him back?
LMAM is (was) regarded as one of the premier perimeter defenders. However he offers nothing on offense and this could scare teams away. I'm sure there must be a handful of teams interested in him as a defensive role player. 4.4 mil is a nice chuck off the salary cap at the end of the season too.
Shved may draw interest from Brooklyn as he could be reunited with Kirilenko and fellow Russian Sergey Karasev. I'm sure Mikhail Prokhorov would like another Russian on board the (Moscow) Nets. Marcus Teague could be acquired in return and would make a nice and cheap 3rd string point guard.

Does this mean Budinger is healthy?
Re: Barea, LMAM and Shved on the block
The common thinking is Flip already has whatever deals he wants to tweak the roster lined up, but will not pull the trigger until the Love/Wiggins deal is done.
He had to move right away to nab Mo Williams out of free agency, but everything else has to wait, including the final disposition of GR3 (which could be signing him, but DAMN, is that a young team?!?).

Its possible the reason they haven't been traded is Flip has held onto these guys because he thought they might be. What he needs to pull of a deal to match salaries.
I wonder if JJ would prefer a buyout over getting stuck with the Sixers. Lol

JJ would likely prefer it, but no way in hell Glen Taylor signs off on that.

Unless they allow JJ to discuss FA deals with another team (if that's legal) and then work out a discounted buyout for the Wolves which nets him more money overall than his 4.4 mill. Hopefully there's a team that wants him though.

I'm still trying to figure out why we are trying to move the expirings rather than Bud or Martin or even Brewer. Wouldn't it make more sense, and then have a huge amount of space next season?

I'm sure they would move Martin for they didn't have to pay someone to take him
Brewer I would imagine could be moved if needed but his effort and motor would be good to have around these young guys.
Bud could also be potentially hard to deal with his health history unless you pay someone to take him but if he recovers and shows something I would imagine he would be easier to move at the deadline or next season and potentially get something for him or at least not have to pay someone to take him.
At this point the expiring contracts are most likely the easiest to move to make the roster count work and with no need for cap space this year next year will most likely be the same or easier to move with one less year on their deals.

Doesn't have to be to sign someone. Could be used to take back a contract and get a pick. There are many different ways to use the cap space.
