First off I don't think it will, but this is dumb in so many ways, stupid NBA rules.

Re: Trade might get blocked
Thx for posting, kek. I gotta admit, this started to smell bad when Kevin's numbers started floating around...5 years, $120 million. There seems to be a big difference between getting a subtle nod from a player that he is likely to re-sign, and actually laying out the numbers in the media. This makes it sound like Kevin has actually already signed a contract...not just given the high sign to the Cavs. Really stupid. At least this time it's not the Wolves that are being stupid, it's the Cavs and Love. If this deal gets blocked because Love and Cleveland's GM couldn't keep their big mouths shut, I won't know who to strangle first.
Oh, who am I kidding...I'm going after Love first :D .

I wouldn't worry. Its stuff people are reporting and then media getting their panties in a bunch over what MIGHT have happened and then we click on the story. Meh the deal seems very much done and its gonna happen. Someone would have to do something really ridiculous for the League to keep this trade from happening.
Re: Trade might get blocked
I'd like to see how it adds up to 120 mil. Even if the cap jumps to 67 mil like they think, Love's starting salary will be under 20 mil. Five years starting at 20 adds up to about 115 mil. I am pretty sure this is just some hack throwing a number down to make it look like he has an inside source (again)!
Best part of the article is the last paragraph, when the author states it would be impossible to prove. One might ask then, WHY WRITE THE ARTICLE?

The irresponsible entirely fabricated reports we see from so called sports journalists is astounding. Someone hears something from someone - almost anyone -- and reports it as fact without doing any digging, fact-checking or corroboration with other sources.. Some just speculate wildly and report their conjecture as fact. It's really disgusting.
Love's agent isn't an amateur. He's a power agent.. A savvy pro. There is no way Kevin's agent made any commitment to Cleveland on behalf of his client other than promising to honor his existing contract if traded and possibly confirming his intent to opt out after next season. Nothing that violates the CBA.
Keep in mind that there are probably some very nervous owners and front office personnel of certain Eastern Conference teams who rightly fear this Love deal because of the powerhouse it will create in Cleveland. So I wouldn't be surprised if some folks associated with Cleveland's East rivals are trying to sabotage the deal by using their media lackies to spread false information that might generate League front office concerns.
So stay tuned. This could get ugly. But eventually this deal will get done. Love's agent is too smart to do anything that would jeopardize this deal, which his client wants so badly.
Honestly, the only significant risk is Glen Taylor. He really is a dunderhead as we saw in his recent remarks that he apparently thought were off the record background. Flip needs to lock Glen away for the next 2 weeks. z

Tampering is next to impossible to prove if there is no written agreement between the teams. As long as we've kept it off the books and there's no official paperwork yet, then I'm not worried. The fact that you can't publicly announce a trade because Wiggins can't officially move until the 23rd is a stupid rule to begin with. I can understand that the trade can't become official for 30 days, but to reach an agreement prior to 30 days should not be against the rules as long as nothing is submitted to the league. Deals are announced all the time during the moratorium period, but they don't become official until that period ends. I don't see how this is any different.

Oh come on, it's not like he's had any kind of history of doing under the table deals

Lip, I wouldn't put too much faith in the fact that Love's agent will do the right thing and keep him out of trouble. Joe Smith had Eric Fleisher for an agent, and we all know how that worked for Joe and the Wolves. Agents rank right next to head lice and the US Congress on my list.
I would be surprised if this deal falls apart, but it's difficult to find a bigger trio of nitwits in the NBA than Glen Taylor, Kevin Love and the Cavs' management team...a lot of loose lips there. Somehow details of a Love contract with the Cavs are floating around, and considering the parties involved, the NBA is not going to let this go uninvestigated. Everyone needs to shut up until the 23rd, but that may be too much to ask.
