anyone catch the Lynx?

Post by alexftbl8181 [enjin:6648741] »

I watched a majority of it and gotta admit, it was an awesome game. Couple observations...

Maya Moore is a really really good player. Some of the shots she hit were NBA quality clutch play.

Lindsey Whalen is everything Rubio should be. Granted, I've probably only watched about 10-15 games of Lindsey's career but boy is she a leader. I think the leadership quality is overrated, but she's the best leader (comparatively) of anybody in Minnesota sports. She's not the best player, but she knows when exactly to take over, and always looks in control. If Rubio was like Whalen, he'd be a max player.

Britney Griner is pretty much Jwanna man playing among women. She looks like a NBA player going against college players. She'll probably end up being the Wilt of the WNBA by the time shes done.

It kinda blows it's only a 3 game series. I understand why because nobody watches. It seems a shame because it accounts to a fluke instead of figuring out whose the best team (PHX looks like the better team though)

Lastly I haven't been able to post something without bashing Glen. But by looking at the crowd last night, Minnesota is absolutely a basketball town. Minnesota pretty much has the impression of being a bad basketball town because nobody ever goes to Wolves games. The cold, Minnesotans don't like basketball, they are cheap ect are reasons given to why nobody ever comes.

But as the Lynx have shown, if you actually put a good product on the floor, people will gladly come and cheer the hell out of them. Glen has just put such a shitty product on the floor for what seems like forever, that nobody is dumb enough to go and watch the Wolves get smoked. Put a team out there that will be a winner, and people will come

It was one hell of a game, Maya Moore is the MJ of the WNBA, The lynx are really fun to watch, and they have three players that could take over a game. Also I could be wrong on this but dosen't Glen own the Lynx, so he is a champion.

Whenever I've taken a little time to watch the Lynx the past 3 or so years which sadly is very little its been very enjoyable basketball. I'm going to try and catch the game tuesday night.

I really think the Women's game has changed the past 10 or so years. I went to a couple Nebraska Women's games last year and it was a good time. The way the teams and individual players play the game is more interesting and exciting than I can ever remember. Tickets are dirt cheap or I get them for free so its fun to go to games. I'll probably try and go to more games this year.

I'll definitely be watching the deciding game tonight. I watched Game 2 and it didn't look good for awhile, but the Big 3 willed them to victory. Mayo and Seimone may usually be the biggest offensive punch, but Whelan is the straw that stirs the drink. Her leadership is extraordinary. She turned me around on women's basketball during her exciting years at the U. I go back to the days when women's basketball was three on three on offense and three on three on defense, and you weren't allowed to cross the line...truly a silly game. And I remember Patrick Reusse referring to women's basketball 15 years ago as tip-toed ball tossing. But it's changed, and is really fun to watch these days.

quick breakdown. Lynx lost because of some of the worst D I've ever seen. Phx pretty much got either a wide open layup or a wide open jumper everytime. Moore seems clueless on D. It was amazing that they stuck around so long. They need to go out and find a shotblocker and rim protector either in the draft or FA.

I would seriously consider a Whalen for Dieng and a future first. Whalen is a solid backup plan for the Wolves if Rubio ends up being too expensive

I pretty much have the same thoughts, the first 3 quarters I was like how are the lynx still in this game, Phx was getting layups and open threes at will, while the Lynx were hitting tough pull up jumpers. That was the difference in the 4th quarter, Phx kept getting layups and the Lynx finally started missing tough jumpers. Overall the Lynx are the second best team in the NBA, but they have no big man presences what hurts them a lot. Also I don't follow the WNBA a lot, but is there a shot blocking threat in the WNBA besides Griner

The Lynx used to have an identity as a very good defense team but I think the injuries they had this year might have kept them from having that come together. Of course they just lost to a fantastic team so no shame there I suppose.
