Another crazy idea

Post by worldK »

Would you trade love for paul george?

First trade pek and 13 to sixers for thad young and 10. Then trade love, young and 10 to indy for paul george and west.

George
West
Dieng
Rubio
Martin
Thats a Pretty solid lineup for us.

I know its not likely to happen though. Its difficult to justify a swap of all stars when both are at their peak and it will be a tough sell for indy to their fanbase. Still,if i were flip and we are at the oint where trading love is a must, its a call i will make and a scenario i would explore.

If Paul George really did sleep with Hibbert's woman it's not as far-fetched as you think, the Pacers have to do SOMETHING and I don't think a coaching change will fix things

Negative. If we actually did pull off a Pek/13 to Philly for Thad/10, I'd just pocket that and roll with:

Rubio/MLE
Martin/Stauskas or Harris at 10
Young/Brewer
Love/NBA vet
Dieng/Turiaf

I will be for that as well but it still wont solve the love issue. Can we win 50 games with that lineup? Thats what it takes to make the playoffs in the west and if we do, and with extentions for rubio and love on the way, do we have enough assets and cap space to get 1 more star to take the next step? George us signed for five more years after this season. Gives us more stability. Its something i would consider if love is a must to trade.

In this hypothetical situation, I'd roll the dice with this roster to start the season. If we're still fighting for just the 8th seed or struggling to even do that, I'd deal Love at the deadline to Golden State or Chicago, who would still have the assets to make a good trade and a place where Love would re-sign.

At least we'd still have a 25 year old SF/PF in Young regardless of what happened to Love. Young's also under a team-friendly deal if you ask me.

Still hypothetical... Let's say we're a couple games under .500 around the deadline. Wouldn't Golden State still have interest even mid-season? Thompson, Lee and a 1st round pick. Rubio/Thompson/Young/Lee/Dieng. Wolves still competitive. Lee's the only player in that lineup that's over 25.

Not a perfect deal, but if we can't get a top 3 pick....
MN Out: Love Pek Martin
MN In: Sullinger Green Young 6, 10, 17, Future 1st from PHI, Future BKN 1st

PHI Out: Young, 10, Future First
PHI In: Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson

BOS Out: Sullinger Green 6, 17, Future BKN 1st
BOS In: Love

NO Out: Gordon, Anderson
NO In: Pek Martin

Trade 13 and Young to Sac for 8

Draft Randle/Smart at 6
Draft Gordon/Vonleh at 8
Draft Stauskas/ Harris at 10
Draft Lavine/Jusuf Nurkic or another stash at 17

Rubio MLE
Smart Stauskas/Harris
Brewer Bazz Budinger
Vonleh Green
Dieng Sullinger

Or

Rubio MLE
Stauskas/Harris Brewer
Gordon Bazz
Randle Green
Dieng Sullinger

I prefer george/west over thomson/lee. In george, we have a legit all star. Il take the one all star over two very good/fringe all star types. West is no slouch either.

In this scenario, you'd be taking George/West over Thompson/Young/Lee/10th overall pick. I wouldn't.

I would actually. I like george a lot. Its a case of quality over quantity. Not a knock on thomson and young. Their very good players but george can have a bigger impact on the game than the two. He is the ideal wing compliment of rubio. We have more cap flexibility as well in two years when west's contract is up.
