The NBA is Soft

Post by mjs34 »

I missed the "scuffle" in the bulls game last night, but heard comments about MMA moves, and how Nene might be suspended so I looked at a replay. What an absolute joke this league has become. I cold see a technical being handed out, but anything more than that is ridiculous. A couple guys wrestling around is what I witnessed.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised after seeing the overreaction by the NBA on the Lebron/McRoberts play. I wasn't even sure if a foul should have been called on that, but there certainly wasn't any excessive contact by McRoberts. He wasn't even moving his forearm on the play. He just had it extended from his body. I can't believe Lebron is crying like he is. He routinely runs guys over in the lane that are 50 lbs lighter than him and never gets called for so much as a foul (if not getting FT's on top of it), and here he is acting like a guy tried to take his head off.

Lebron will never be in MJ's league for this very reason. Lebron would have taken his ball and gone home if he had to take the beaten that MJ did on a nightly basis.

If you really want to see the NBA in its purest form, tune in to the Brooklyn/Toronto series and watch the NBA refs pick the winner.

Everything changed with Malice at the Palace. The league has gone to great lengths to clean up its image. Throw in high-definition instant replay from multiple angles, and players just don't get away with anything anymore. That has nothing to do with LeBron or how good of a player he can be considered, though.

It's got everything to do with it. Go look at video of his contact with McRoberts and tell me where there is any excessive contact. I don't think the refs charged McRoberts with more than a common foul, but the NBA upgraded it to a Flagrant 2 and fined McRoberts for touching their poster boy. Rubio takes five shots a night on moving picks taking elbows and shoulders that are intentional and doesn't even get a foul called and there is no reaction from the NBA.

I'm not even talking about the play. You can't say that no player post-Jordan will ever be as good because they are enforcing rules differently. It's like saying no post player will ever be as good as Wilt because they have since widened the lane and added defensive 3-seconds.
