Flip couldn't be more transparent. He can't even get himself to say that he would prefer to hire someone from outside rather than serve in both roles. He wants that head coaching position so bad he can taste it.
I'll add that I don't like that Flip won't share names of possible coaches with Love. That's ridiculous. Your best player can opt out at the end of next season and whether he stays would likely turn at least in part on who is coaching him. And you won't run names by you star??!! I've never thought Flip is very bright, but I wish he would stop reinforcing my view. Of course, you have to hope that Love will volunteer his opinion on names that surface in the media. And then you have to hope Flip will listen. No, Love should not have some sort of final veto power over the selection. But Flip should discuss individual top candidates with Kevin and Ricky and should definitely factor in their opinions and observations. A player like Love may very well have some information or insights that Flip doesn't have. Love is well connected around the League and has a very high basketball IQ.

Which makes me wonder, "Why is Flip here again if the players are more well connected than he is?"
