Is Zgoda Serious!?

Post by Volans19 »

"Expect Rubio's side to push for a contract closer to a maximum salary than the four-year, $44 million extension Golden State's Stephen Curry received, which the Wolves just might view as beyond their limits."

If there is any truth to this (Zgoda tends to talk out his ass) than the Wolves should not even talk about extending Rubio's contract. Rubio is hardly a $10 million a year player and no where near being worth $15 million a year. If he becomes a lethal shooter as well as a player who can lead his team in the final minutes of a ball game, sure I could tolerate that deal, needless to say he isn't

Anything is possible with Flip leading the negotiations. He has overpaid everyone so far, so why would Rubio's agent take anything less.

I do agree that taking anything Zgoda or Doogie for that matter say is a complete waste of time.

Haha! That is funny, and um, I believe Curry averaged more assists than Rubio too. He'll probably get a Pek type deal, but yeah I agree 10 million would be the absolute most I would pay.

If Rubio's agent decides to ask for something along those lines, I would hope Flip shuts down negotiations and let things play out next off season in RFA.

The fact that the point guard position is so stacked works against Rubio. My estimate is that only about 8 or 9 teams would trade their starting PG for Rubio straight up. He's not getting Curry money and if he ever wants to make the playoffs, he should let his agent know not to push for it

It would make sense for Rubio's side to start by going after more money. Hopefully is Flip realizes what other PGs are getting and doesn't give in and we get Rubio for closer to 8 million. Parker is getting 12.5, I don't see how Rubio/his agent could realistically think he can get more then that.

Zgoda is just trying to get hits on his page, that's all.

Or anywhere close to that. Parker's accomplishments year after year are incredible. Rubio is playing with a top-10 player and a top-10 center and hasn't made the playoffs. For once the Wolves have the advantage in negotiating, not the player.

5yr 60m contract with a opt out after year 4 is most likely the deal we end up with rubio. Ideally he should get 10m tops based on his performace so far but i dont see his side aggreing to anything less than peks deal since pek isnt more valuable to the team than rubio.

Thas on flip as he signed pek to that deal in the first place. There are other factors in play as well as rubio brings in the fanbase and other things. We just have to hope that rubio develops into the player worth that money and it all starts with his jumper.

World - Your analysis is spot on. Like it or not, Pek's deal sets the bar for Ricky. His agent understandably won't accept less and there are definitely other teams that will pay that kind of money -- maybe more -- to Ricky. And Ricky will have suitors who pY less but have a shot at contending for a championship.
