East Conference Playoffs Thread

Post by SameOldNudityDrew »

Sixers handled Brooklyn today in game 1. Not too surprising.

And Boston is just shellacking Atlanta by halftime, 74-44. Wow. They're probably going to have a lot of rest before their second round.

Thoughts on the East?

The top 3 teams in the east are a different class thantbhe rest of the NBA imo.

All the teams in the east are also pretty good teams though. Well…Atlanta might be a team I don’t feel very good about but of course that’s even moreso since the are playing the Celtics.

The Knicks Cavs series is kinda interesting because it’s sort of between a couple teams that it’s kinda like oh hey how did those teams get here? It was only 2 seasons ago the Cavs only won 22 games. In 2019-2020 season those teams combined to win a total of 40 games.

I agree Monster, the top of the East is at a different level. The Celtics had their ups and downs this past season, but when they are all healthy, they are just ridiculously good on both ends of the court.

Knicks up against the Cavs 45-32 at the half. LOL, Thibs must be in heaven with that kind of score!

Looked at the box score this morning…79 points for the Cavs?!? Did they mess up and only play 40 minutes or something?

Oddly I find myself kinda cheering for the Knicks to win this series. Part of it is they don’t have anyone that a few months ago anyone would say was a star player and also it would be funny to see the Cavs trade for Mitchell and then lose in the first round to a lower seed who also passed on making a deal for Mitchell themselves last offseason.

I gotta admit I felt a little nostalgic watching Kevin Love make those full-court assists in Game 1. I've never seen anyone better at it.

I'll also say I thought Spo totally outcoached Thibs in that first game. His flexibility and in-game adjustments give Miami an important edge in this series. As opposed to Thibs: with him, there's Plan A, and Plan B is to do Plan A better! Thibs has done a great job with the Knicks this season, but I think his coaching is a disadvantage in a playoff series.
