Heat won the East tonight with a gutsy performance.
Denver is likely favored, but it seems pretty silly at this point to underestimate the Heat.

Re: Finals Thread
I am so glad the NBA didn't get another Lakers vs. Celtics clash.
Many MN fans were rooting against the Heat because of Jimmy, and I don't know why, as he wasn't wrong about anything here. I enjoy Miami's whole unselfish grit and grind team basketball aspect.
I expect Denver to win handily. Bam looked very underwhelming guarding and scoring against Horford and Timelord. Good luck with Jokic. If Jokic gets Bam in foul trouble then they have Zeller and Love to counter. Ouch.
Herro is expected back, Robinson is shooting well, Martin is out of his mind, Vincent is a spark, Struss can get hot. I can see them taking two games.

I think I was wrong and right about Jimmy. Wrong that he would be better (albeit in the perfect situation) then I thought going forward. Right that I don't think the Wolves culture was right for Jimmy. Neither was Phili, neither was Chicago.TheFuture wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 6:36 amI am so glad the NBA didn't get another Lakers vs. Celtics clash.

KAT was still young and showing more promise, now he has flopped to those potentials (top 5/10 NBA player) so we were certainly wrong about KAT.
Re: Finals Thread
What Wolves culture? The problem is that the Wolves have never had one. KG did his best to establish one, but the FO failed that time. KAT is not a tone-setter. Jimmy and Thibs could've been, but the timing wasn't right as the FO and fans were still hinged to KAT and Wiggins - both too passive. There is a new chance now with Ant. Cut the fat - KAT.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 7:01 amI think I was wrong and right about Jimmy. Wrong that he would be better (albeit in the perfect situation) then I thought going forward. Oh I agree. Look at KAT in the playoffs. He is too emotional. He's a roller coaster having 30/15 one game and 10/5 (Fouling out) the next. I'm done with KAT altogether and ready to move on.
You are right though, our franchise wasn't ready for Jimmy. Wiggins and KAT were too weak mentally. The fanbase was hung on them as well as "potential". They never could be the superstar leaders we needed. Jimmy tried to take the reigns but it all clashed, especially with KAT as we know.
Re: Finals Thread
I know some of you are chomping at the bit to get rid of KAT, but it should come as no surprise that the Heat and Nuggets were the two most accurate 3-point shooting teams in the Playoffs this year. While they aren't high volume 3-pt teams, they made the open ones at a high rate.
If we move on from KAT, that is one less really accurate 3-point shooter on our roster. It is ***MANDATORY*** that the team has shooting around Ant if we ever want this team to make a deep playoff run.

Re: Finals Thread
I guess my counter to that is in Kat career so far he is not a good playoff 3 pt shooter. He shoots 33% from 3 in the playoffs. 11 of 17 career playoff he has hit 1 or 0 3s in the game. 2 of 3 playoff series he has shot under 30% from 3 for the series.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 7:57 am I know some of you are chomping at the bit to get rid of KAT, but it should come as no surprise that the Heat and Nuggets were the two most accurate 3-point shooting teams in the Playoffs this year. Re: Finals Thread
Fair point, but it's a small-ish sample size of games and even if his shooting is off, he is at least still drawing someone out there to guard him. No one is going to sag way off him when he's on the perimeter (unlike Gobert or Vando or Okogie, etc.).kekgeek wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 8:41 amI guess my counter to that is in Kat career so far he is not a good playoff 3 pt shooter. I doing disagree one bit. I’m so torn on the Kat situation in general. He is so good yet his flaws are glaring. I do hate the wolves get punished with Kat salary. Fun stat, if Kat plays for the wolves this year he will be the 3 #1 overall pick since 1997 (Duncan and Wall) to play 9 consecutive seasons with the team that drafted him. The Heat made 50% of their three pointers in 3 of the first 84 games this season.
The Heat have made at least 50% of their three pointers in 3 of the past 7 games.
