Beal to Phoenix for nothing
Seriously, what is washington thinking here? They get literally nothing but 2nd rounders and lamdry shame for him? No team in the league could put together something better? Somebody help me understand what just happened.

He’s always hurt and the new CBA. Also I believe his agent is the Suns owner or CEO dad. But with that said Kat value will be very similar if he gets hurt or improve year. I’m really really worried as a wolves fan this is Kat value in a tradeCrazysauce wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:17 pm Seriously, what is washington thinking here? I was just looking at the proposed deal myself....seems like a steal for the Suns. But I don't follow the other teams much...will Chris Paul play for Wizards? I know the guy is almost 40 and on the decline. But he was an All Star just one year ago. And still put up 2.5 VORP this season in only 59 games. To put that in perspective...that's more VORP than anyone on our Roster put up this past season. So...as of this past season, he still had something left in the tank.Crazysauce wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:17 pm Seriously, what is washington thinking here? Too bad TC didn't wait a year to pull of the Rudy trade. I'm guessing it would be 60% off - just like after Christmas.kekgeek wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:44 pmHe’s always hurt and the new CBA. Re: Beal to Phoenix for nothing
Beal had a no-trade clause, so they couldn't just put him up for sale and take the highest bidder. It allows Washington to go into a full re-build mode since Chris Paul's remaining contract is only partially guaranteed and Beal was entering into his massive supermax deal.Crazysauce wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:17 pm Seriously, what is washington thinking here? But yeah.....despite the no-trade clause constraint, still not a good return for someone of Beal's caliber. Gulp. Not a positive sign in terms of the market value of KAT especially.

Those Wizards teams will look like those Rambis Wolves teams.
Read that roster and tell me it doesn't even bum you out thinking about it.

Re: Beal to Phoenix for nothing
I think the no-trade clause was a huge factor as Q pointed out. Also, at this point in his career Beal has become pretty ordinary among the good SGs in the League. There’s really nothing special about Beal’s current game in today’s League. In contrast, like him or not, KAT is a pretty unique talent as a big who hits 40% of his threes while also being elite offensively inside. KAT is younger and more unique. Moreover, he doesn’t have a no-trade clause. I’m not worried about KAT’s trade value. I’m far more worried about the failure of the Wolves front office to accept the need to trade KAT or Rudy this summer. Reports are rampant that Portland is aggressively shopping their #3 pick and Simons for a win-now player to pair with Lillard. If I were TC, I’d be talking with Portland right now about a possible KAT deal for #3, Simons and some other assets or a Rudy deal for their #23 pick, Nurkic and a couple other assets.

On the first point, I agree… I’m not all that scared by that Suns lineup. Pretty soft overall too.
On the second point, Lip — I don’t think we’d hear much of what TC is up to. If the past is any indication, TC’s front office just does not leak...

I wouldn't disagree that we could get more for KAT than what Beal fetched, but man, Beal sets a pretty low floor and starting point for any opposing front office negotiating with the Wolves. It's an unhelpful data point.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 5:57 pm I think the no-trade clause was a huge factor as Q pointed out. Re: Beal to Phoenix for nothing
I think Portland is deciding whether to build round Lillard or shop Lillard and build around the third pick. The Lillard to Miami rumors make me think Portland is seriously contemplating a rebuild. They also have to be realistic that even with KAT and Lillard they are not in same league as Denver, Phoenix and perhaps Lakers if they add a third star and Golden State if they swing a go for broke trade. Plus, Clippers are decidely better if they add CP3 and if Kawhi and George are both healthy. I'm expecting Portland will blow it up if they can get a nice trade package offer.
