Yeah, your non kek. He would never have given Gobert such a low grade... ;)

0 for 8 gets you a C+? I can't get there. Good defense is to be expected on this team. If you provide NOTHING on the offensive side, I think you have to fall below C. I'm not saying F. But I would probably say something in the D range. He was the only starter with a negative +/-

Edit: Team worst -8.

I get where Not-Kek is coming from on Jaden. His on-ball defense was exceptional (as was almost everyone on the team) and has to be recognized in some fashion. If you has an A in history but an F in math, wouldn't your GPA still average out to a C? Jaden was an A+ on defense last night, but an F on offense...so I agree he was a C+ overall.

It varied, but the times I was most impressed were in the second half when he absolutely shut down either PG or Wolves-killer Normy Powell. PG averages 18 shots a game I think, and he only got 11 last night despite Kawhi being out). And gunner Powell only got 9 shots in 28 minutes. It wasn't all Jaden because everyone else was exceptional also (especially NAW, Ant and Mike on the perimeter), but Jaden was the one i noticed most.

OK, I assumed he was on George. And this is where I have a tough time reconciling how people rate McDaniels defense. This season, George averages 22 points/game and .458 FG%.. That's exactly what he had last night (points and similar FG%). So...is that really great defense? Or are some people watching Jaden with rose colored glasses?

Fair points, Anthony. But with Kawhi and Westbrook out, and Ant/NAW sticking to Powell like white on rice, there was no question that PG was the Clippers' first option on offense in the second half. And Jaden just wasn't going to let it happen. I'm going to say PG would have had 35 for the game with anyone else guarding him (he was hot from the outside, and clearly being featured), but who knows. Watch the replay and enjoy a textbook job by Jaden of denying a scorer from getting off any good shots.

I'll take your word for it LST. I'm just challenging the status quo once in a while regarding McDaniels because as a VORP guy - he's disappointing me.

While on this subject, I've reviewed the game log...it looks like McDaniels sat most the 4th? I see he entered the game with only 4:08 left. Can those who watched confirm and/or provide reason for that?

Carlos, you seem to rely exclusively on stats to make your arguments (Jaden's grade, Naz's defense, Miller's development in Iowa, etc.). You need to start watching the games my friend! You can't just rely on stats. And I'm a huge stats guy myself, as they definitely help form an overall assessment of a player. But there is so much that goes on outside of what can be gleaned from a box score or generalized stat (like VORP or PER).
