Nickeil Alexander-Walker

Post by Carlos Danger »

This guy deserves his own thread. Not only was he the guy to deliver the pass for the Edwards dunk, but it was his poke-away steal that started the whole break. He's starting to become one of my favorite players.

For the season, he's having a career year in several meaningful categories including:
* Minutes played
* 3 pointers (volume and make %)
* Free Throw %
* Assists
* TS%
* The all important VORP

The guy is only 25 years old. After the regular season last year, I would have been fine moving on from him. But then he did pretty well filling in for McDaniels in the playoffs, so I was glad they re-signed him. Now that contract is looking like a steal.

Hope he keeps building on this - what a great trade that turned out to be for us. At the time, I thought both he and Conley might be one and dones here. Instead, they both are big parts of one of our best teams ever.

He's been awesome. Consider our defense with Jaden, NAW and Ant then Rudy anchoring it of course. We have 4 elite defenders on our team. I mentioned 2-3 years ago that defensive players were generally undervalued around the league. The easiest way to build a championship contender was through defense.

But saying that you DO need the entire squad to be on board. Like with offense you can have one or two superstars basically get things done. But on defense you need everyone otherwise opponent can try and exploit the weak link through pick and rolls, etc (DLO). Certainly I am a fan of NAW and his defense. His offense has been up and down but it's been great at times too.
