Wolvesfans grades for G4 playoffs 2024

I have to upgrade some of our starters, because I thought 3 of them played very well:

Ant: A Almost a perfect game at both ends
Conley: A An efficient 15 points, 9 assists and no turnovers
Jaden: B Terrific defense on Jamal. but needs to hit the corner 3

The other grades look very good. NAW and Slo really killed us in this game.

I originally thought A, but that turnover to start the 8-0 15 second run at the end of the first half was such a killer. I think he could have been even a bit better passing and defending too. I would have liked to see him take on Jokic at the rim a couple times for instance. Just to see. It's a bit nitpicky, but as our best player he has higher standards to live up to. Didn't quite meet them.

Conley was 5/12. Just OK shooting (42% = below AVG), one more bucket and he gets a B. I actually dinged him slightly for his defense also. Thought it could be better. Good stat though on no turnovers. Maybe a C+ would be more accurate for me.

We expect terrific defense from Jaden. I need more to up his grade.

Most of Conley's shots were from 3 too though, where he was 3/7 (42%). Granted he shot a career high 44.2% from 3 this season, but I'd still bump his grade a bit as well.

Seems fair, all Ant had to do was use up all of the clock, even if he turns it over it doesn't matter if the clock runs out. Rudy's screen came up too quickly and Ant didn't wait. Granted Ant didn't know NAW was going to do what he did next. At this point in the season, you would think you could figure out how to use up the clock on the final shots.

That last 15 seconds took what could have been a 4 point game to a 15 point game. 4-5 points even 7 you're right in it. 15 was a tough ask to overcome, yes other guys blew it too, but Ant's turnover was the start.

I would have loved to see Ant try and block Joker at the rim also a couple times. If he gets posterized and 3 point play so be it. I think though the potential block and energy swing from it would have been massive, block to transition basket, etc. I saw twice he backed off. He wasn't ready for the Jokers smoke. It's a little nitpicky, but if you want to be the best you got to do superstar plays.

I agree with FNG except I’d give Conley a B+.

Beyond that, Rudy can’t get higher than a D. His defense was terrible and he was the only Wolves player who didn’t show consistent intensity. He wasn’t as bad as he was Friday night, but he was still terrible. Add in his 5 turnovers, which is beyond shameful for a center, and his 5 fouls and you can’t give him more than a D+.

I’d give Slo Mo and incomplete. No other grade works for a guy who played just 6 minutes.

I agree with FNG except I’d give Conley a B+.

Difficult to do in just 6 minutes. But as Kek has pointed out before, Slo is ineffective when he is forced to play SF, and that's normally going to be his role when all 3 bigs are healthy and not in foul trouble.

Perhaps more significant, the Wolves were a +5 in the 45 minutes Ant was on the court, and a -13 in the 3 minutes he wasn't. Kyle Thiege said on Dane's podcast that he thought Ant struggled on defense because he was tired, but I honestly didn't notice that. Nori/Finchie need to channel their inner Thibs and play Ant at least 45 minutes tonight.
