20 Game Window Is Closing - Clippers at Wolves GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

I go away for a week and all hell breaks loose. Geez!

I’m on a ship somewhere in the Caribbean, so I will not be watching tonight. But I have been seeing some of the twitter commentary, and just finished skimming over the threads this past week. Ouch!

After reading some of the Chris Hine’s feedback, and others, on ANT’s comments, it’s obvious the team chemistry is taking the full 20 games sometimes required to develop. Will that be enough time? It’s clear SloMo’s presence is a huge void ANT is being forced to fill. Maybe his comments will be a turning point, starting tonight.

Anyway, I am still bullish on what this team can do this season. But it needs to start soon. Otherwise we will be waiting for something to happen come trade deadline…

Hope you enjoy your cruise Tim!

One dark thought is that may be the team chemistry was at it's peak when training camp opened and it has only gotten worse! It appears a loss of trust has taken place over time versus a gaining of trust, so I'm not sure more games together fixes this.

There may need to be an exogenous intervention, like a trade or coaching change, that is needed. But I suspect Connelly will give it a bit more time before pulling one or both of those levers.

Tim, happy to hear you're cruising, but I'm not too happy about Randle and Ant "cruising" on defense. We catch another break tonight with Norman Powell joining Kawhi on the injured list. Raise your hand if you had Derick Jones Jr., Amir Coffey, Bones Hyland and Kris Dunn as the 4 available Clippers with the highest 3-point percentages.

Normally this would look like a cakewalk, but this is the 2024-5 Timberwolves who Ant says have "disrespectful fans". Come on, fans...this would be a championship team if not for you. Let's pick it up and cheer this team on to victory. When DiVo misses another 3-pointer, cheer! When Randle trots down the court on defense far behind the play, let him know we think that's okay...he's just tired. And when Ant dribbles during the first 20 seconds of the shot clock only to throw a lazy grenade at a teammate's feet, celebrate his rapidly expanding family. Quit holding this team back!

Seriously, this is one we gotta win, and should win if we can show the proper intensity. Let's see how interested our boys are in saving Finchie's job.

Let's go fa...um, Wolves!

I have and admission to make, I do not enjoy watching Julius Randle play basketball. Feels like we are no longer in the ascendancy of this run, and it was way to short.

This could end up being a real down year if things don't change in the next month. Too many guys are slumping and young guys are not really ready to contribute substantially (Dilly / Minott / Garza / anyone else). Then next year we probably lose Randle and or Naz. Imagine if Randle stinks it up, we can't trade him for peanuts, he is forced to opt in and because of that we can't resign Naz because owners are poor.

Thank God Norman Powell, notorious Wolves killer, isn't playing....not that opponent injuries have made much of a difference lately.

Clips look a little sluggish and we're making our 3s. Good start.
