Kekgeek grades G20 vs lakers
Re: Kekgeek grades G20 vs lakers
I agree with your grades except that I’d bump Ant to a D+ and take Jaden down to a C-. I’d also give all the young third-string bench guys (Minott, Garza, TSJ) a B+. They were all productive and efficient offensively in their limited 6 to 8 minutes and they all had impressive plus/minus stats. Honestly, none of them played enough to get graded, but the team put me in a good mood tonight, which makes me feel like handing out some nice grades to the guys who rarely get to play. Minott filled the stat sheet in his 8 minutes.

Lots of well-deserved high marks. Nice to see our squad play aggressively on defense and loose on offense while also protecting the ball. It looks like everyone on the roster listened to and took to hear Ant's message last week...except...Ant. But despite his poor game, nobody seemed to be having more fun cheering his teammates on than Ant. We can question his off-court behaviors and on-court decision making, but it's always fun to watch his joy on the bench when his teammates do something special.
Is Randle finally understanding the role of the low man in the Wolves' defensive scheme? Some evidence in the last two games that he's starting to get it. He also was surprisingly effective last night when matched up against AD.
The only way to analyze the KAT deal is by evaluating how we're playing this season compared to last...and the answer is not positive. But if we analyze it by comparing how Randle/DiVo played last season compared to KAT, I see it as a clear win for us. And tonight we finally saw last season's DiVo at both ends of the court. Making his shots, disruptive defense, and 9 assists and no turnovers. We need more of that.
My worst pre-season prediction was that we would be much more effective in transition offense after the trade. Unfortunately, despite ranking 15th in turning opponents over, we came into last night's game dead last in transition offense. So much fun to see us run last night and get some transition baskets. Keep it up!
And then there is Jaden...he's taken only 12 shots in the last three games in 72 minutes...exactly one shot every 6 minutes. And he's only had 7 rebounds in those 3 games. Even more alarmingly, he struggled to keep DLo in front of him last night. And with his sub-30% 3-point shooting, opposing defenses are leaving him open like they used to with Okogie and Rubio. He's clearly broken right now. The question we have to ask is...is it permanent, or can he be saved? Opponents are averaging almost 6 more points per 100 possessions when Jaden is on the court compared to off, and the Wolves score 8.4 fewer points per 100 when he's playing. He's hurting us at both ends of the court. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but it's a real issue for this team.

Jaden’s regression is alarming. Too much weed? You rarely see someone with Jaden’s ability regress the way he has so far this season at this point in their career. I don’t want to give up on him, but his trade value will continue to decline if his play doesn’t improve.FNG wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:57 am Lots of well-deserved high marks. I still think his trade value is pretty high. There is always a GM out there that believes a change in scenery can re-energize a player. The other thing about Jaden is that he shows up in the playoffs (or at least the ones where he hasn't punched a wall and taken himself out!).Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:53 amJaden’s regression is alarming.
