Time to shuffle the deck?

Post by Phenom »

Make a decision if Randle will be traded. If he wont be traded, move Dilly and NAW into the starting lineup for Julius and Mike.

Dilly/Mike
Ant/DDV
NAW/DDV
Jaden/Naz
Rudy/Julius

Let the starting lineup buoy young Dillingham and see if the team can push tempo more. Keep Julius and Rudy separate as much as possible.

Finchie has to do something. At Atlanta would have been a good chance to try that something. He didn't do it. So is he going to do it for the first time on National TV on Christmas Day?!? I doubt it. So we'll just get yet another game confirming the Wolves are messed up.

I gotta say, Phenom. Your lineup suggestion doesn't excite me. Sorry...

There is no fickin' JOY on the team right now. I think Finch has to go back to last year when KAT was out. After farting around with some lineups, he settled in on NAZ taking KAT's place and the Wolves assembled an 11-3 record over those 13 games NAZ started. Finch could have the same starting lineup today that he had for that stretch of games. Just F'ing DO IT!

On another note, an argument could be made that NAW and/or DDV are deserve(s) to start over Conley and/or Jaden. But I would at least start with the NAZ move.

If I knew Naz was going to hit shots, I might agree with you. NAW is hitting shots

and therein lies the problem. We want Naz to start because Randle's been a poor fit, not because Naz is playing so well that we have to rethink things.

I agree that it’s time to shuffle the deck, but I would prefer Tim’s idea of swapping Naz and Ju in the rotation. I don’t think Rob is ready to contribute if we’re serious about making the playoffs, and it’s pretty clear that the coaches (who know a lot more about the readiness of our young guys than we do) don’t think he’s ready.

But swapping Randle and naz makes a lot of sense to me. I appreciate that Ant and Ju are trying to make it work together, but it’s clear to all of us that it’s not. I want one of them on the court at all times, but I want their time on the court together to be limited. I would look to give Ant 36 minutes and Ju around 28, but more of Ants minutes would be with Naz than with Randle. Instead I want Randle next to DiVo, because I think they work well together.

Give us a Christmas gift, Finchie, and make this switch!

NO confirmed to be shopping Zion, Ingram, and CJ McCollum. I like CJ as a two guard more than a point guard, but at this point I think I would still try for a three team deal since the pelicans wouldn't want Randle either

Here is a relatively new podcast hosted by the "Lakers Nation" guy. He frequently has some interesting stuff, and today they went all in on Julius Randle. They don't know the Wolves situation inside-and-out, but they have some pretty good takes.

At around the 9-minute mark they show a 5-man lineup (I think it is from cleaningtheglass) chart of offensive and defensive rankings. Why Randle is still in the starting lineup is beyond me. We know Finch and Connelly talk frequently. Is it possible they are trying to find a trade before moving Randle to the bench?!?

All 3 are impossible to acquire in a trade because we are a second apron team if we don’t have Ant in the trade

Speaking of shuffling the deck...

PJ Dozier is only guaranteed 1 mil of his contract, but the remainder becomes guaranteed on January 6th (or maybe it was the 10th?). I remember Doogie report this, and Hoopshype has a not about the partial guarantee, but spotrac doesn't mention it at all.

Anyway, I expect PJ will not be on the roster in the next couple of weeks.
