Just in: Arbitrators have ruled Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez over Glen Taylor as the next majority ownership group of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lore and Rodriguez told ESPN. The NBA’s Board of Governors now have to approve Lore and Rodriguez.

Technically they don’t own it yet. Still need league owners approval. But great sign

Yes, what a relief (for now). Dane Moore seems to think the owners approval is pretty academic at this point, although I am a little concerned that the ruling was 2-1 vs. 3-0. I suppose Glen's appointed arbitrator went his way (?) and it was the neutral one that ultimately put it over the top.

Now a rant: WHAT THE EFF TOOK SO LONG!?!?! It seems utterly ridiculous to me that a dispute over legal language took multiple months to get a hearing, and then more frustrating, took multiple months to get a ruling. The hearing was waaaay back in November of 2024! And of course they had to wait until the end of the day today - couldn't do it earlier, nope.

Seems like they dragged a lot of people, especially employees caught in the middle of this thing, through a ton of unnecessary stress. Not to mention us fans! Ridiculous.

Yes, the delay was absolutely ridiculous in my view. It’s also ridiculous that there was a dissenting vote among the three arbitrators. This wasn’t a close case. So I suspect politics intruded into the process.

Well, Glen handpicked these new owners, so you know they’re going to be great! :?

Here’s an opinion people won’t agree with here. I am terrified for the franchise with ARod and Lore as owners, and I think Glen Taylor would be a better and safer owner going forward.

1. Taylor won’t move the team.
2. Taylor is willing to pay when the team is a winner.
3. Taylor doesn’t interfere with basketball decisions.

The last trait magnified his problem of choosing bad GMs, but he took himself out of the process of GM selection now, so now he’s basically a MIN-loyal ATM.

We don’t know any of these things for ARod and Lore, and while they say things to the general public, there is a lot of very disturbing events around them. I hope ARod and Lore fans are right about them, as new owners of the team we all love.

Shrink, I think I'm pretty much in the middle on this one. I'm still a little pissed at Glen about the Joe Smith debacle and the second round picks he sold for cash, but I'll always be grateful to him for buying the team and keeping it here. And I appreciate that he has mostly stayed out of basketball operations and been willing to pay the luxury tax. On the other hand, ALore has some star power, and that could be a factor in free agents wanting to come here. But then there's the risk that Alore won't be as willing as Glen was to pay lux tax. So, a lot of uncertainty here, and we have to hope for the best. Let's hope last night's debacle isn't an indication of how the players feel about this outcome!
