That makes sense. He won't have a hard time finding a place to play basketball somewhere on this planet.

This one kind of surprised me. While having a very low celling, I thought Edwards seemed like the only center of the 3 ready to fill in for Rudy in the Luka role if he went down for a period. I guess TC and Finchy are ready to go ahead with Naz at center when needed.

I guess I am not surprised at all. Two Cs signed on 2-way contracts seems imbalanced. And if Juan sees any time in the G-League, which I’m not convinced he will, then it’s tough find all those guys minutes.

I’ll also add that I am a much bigger fan of Enrique than I am of Jesse. I could see him taking over the Leonard Miller role in a year or two.

I really like what TC has done with his 2-ways this offseason. Newton has shown a nice balance of offense and defense and shouldn’t be a disaster if ever called upon.

Beringer was ahead of Jesse in Summer league and was clearly more talented. Naz was always gonna play some at C but if Gobert goes down Beringer will get a shot. Plus if the Wolves do leave open a roster spot they could sign a random big maybe even Edwards to a deal.

Enrique might be a better or more polished version of Miller right now. I might have to check out a summer league game to see how he looks. He is undersized but the production is there at the lower levels. He is older than Miller but idk how much that matter because I'm not sure what upside (or maybe even more specifically what that looked like) Miller has at this point and I do still like him to some extent. It's interesting that we added another PF type. Maybe we just went for the best talent available that would sign.

I think that’s right, Monster. As TC said in an interview sometime after last season, your bigs have to be mobile today unless they’re a hall-of-fame traditional drop-coverage big like Rudy. So I think we’re set up to be two different teams - one with Rudy generally relying on drop coverage and Rudy’s traditional paint protection, the other with various more mobile bigs and defending very differently. Beringer is the longer-term center in that configuration but Naz is the shorter-term fit.

One of the reasons they signed Jesse a few months ago was they had nobody in the pipeline in terms of a player behind Rudy. Now they have 2 guys. I think Edwards made nice solid strides and might even be a serviceable NBA deep bench big if you already play with a big but I think it's clear they don't need to develop Edwards for depth anymore. It's more interesting that that they added a guy that's kinda what you might want Leonard Miller's floor with Freeman.

Agree with what you guys said here....seems like the team is definitely pivoting toward switch-able, versatile bigs. Obviously Rocco doesn't fit that mold, but he is waaaaaaay down the depth chart as of right now.

Yeah, Rocco, at 18, is signed to a 2-year 2-way contract. With no 1st round pick in 2027, one could view Rocco as our 2027 draft pick!

I'm not sure they are pivoting to a different type of big just adding more talented ones than Jesse Edwards.
