Anthony Edwards and Load Management
Anthony Edwards and Load Management
I’m not a fan of NBA “load management” but I think it’s an important part of managing through a long grueling NBA season. I just noticed that Ant has been averaging 28.4 minutes per game. I think that’s a good think. It will help keep him fresh all season and over time it should extend the number of seasons in which keep he’ll be at the top of his game physically. Of course, no telling whether Finch will keep Ant’s minutes at that level the entire season but I think it’s a good thing right now.
Re: Anthony Edwards and Load Management
Not to throw cold water on your analysis, but ANT's minutes per game are skewed by his 3 minutes played in that Pacers' game...Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 10:05 pm I’m not a fan of NBA “load management” but I think it’s an important part of managing through a long grueling NBA season. Perhaps a minor point, but if you throw out Ant's 3-minute game, he's only averaging 32.8 minutes per game...almost 4 MPG less than last season. But that is mostly due to the three games after he returned in which Finchy limited his minutes. He was back to playing 38 minutes though against Utah, so I don't think there will be any attempt to limit his minutes going forward.

Not to mention the minutes spared due to garbage time…

I was going to mention that. It's a good thing when we can blow teams out and give the starters rest. 32 instead of 38 could matter in the long run if done a bunch of times. Also less risk for injury too.
So you got to love that we've taken care of some teams early, thats a newer trend so far this season. We've even in the past lost to many "poorer teams" or teams without their best player/s.
Hey get your 32 points and take the 4th quarter off. Nice work Ant!!!

Keep taking care of business against the bad teams, and we need Naz and TSJ to stop hurting us off the bench to keep Ant's minutes low. There are several games SGA doesn't even come in, in the 4th quarter due to nice leads.

4 children in a calendar year is poor load management. Wilt however, slept with 20,000 women and died of fatherless man maybe his greatest stat ever. And atleast making him the OG of load managing.
