Free agent guard Ayo Dosunmu intends to sign a five-year, $112 million contract to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with a player option in the fifth season, sources tell ESPN. Timberwolves made it a major priority to lock in Dosunmu after his tremendous postseason.

Ayo is back!
Re: Ayo is back!
Assuming the 8% raises, that would be a first year salary of roughly 19 mil. I am fine with that.
Re: Ayo is back!
Haha, "tremendous postseason" is a bit of a stretch. One big scoring game against Denver was about it. He was a big negative in the playoffs. He was -7.0 negative per game in playoffs. Big overpay! But I don't expect any less from the clown Connelly.kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 10:45 pm Free agent guard Ayo Dosunmu intends to sign a five-year, $112 million contract to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with a player option in the fifth season, sources tell ESPN. Good news bad news good news
They were able to resign him
Bad news it's maybe a little more than what some would have liked. I could have seen it being even more though.
Good news is that he is locked in so if he blows up and becomes even better which is possible he could be a value contract. If he did a 3 year deal with a player option he could have gotten expensive.

I like the deal. We had to keep him and an average of $22.5M over five years with player salaries likely going up significantly over that time is actually a pretty good deal. I’m convinced that the best of Ayo is yet to come and he’s already good. I see him becoming a terrific two-way starter for us and we’ll eventually see his contract as a great bargain.

It's only a big overpay if we decide he's better off as a 6th man.Monster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:03 pm Good news bad news good news

Do I think our current guys outside of Ant WILL outperform their deals? No.
However, the opportunity to do that is there. If Ayo, Naz, or JMac make the jumps they have to make, those contracts become steals instead of the neutral deals they are.
If there's no Rudy deal, let's add a kick ass backup PF, Kayil learns from Professor Bite Bite, and off we go

They had to get him back, but that's a big number. I'm just sad they chose Randle over NAW and we're still dealing with that choice
Re: Ayo is back!
Connelly now has the financial flexibility to right that wrong because he can add another player for more than just the vet min.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 11:36 pm They had to get him back, but that's a big number. Re: Ayo is back!
Yeah, this is horrendous. TC is basically saying that that Ayo doubled his value with one great offensive game (and a couple good ones) against a bad defensive team. I mean the salaries are so out of control, I know, but this is bad. TC had to overpay, because he would look like an idiot for giving up Dilly and the 4 2nds for a guy and then letting him walk. Idk, hopefully I’m wrong but wow.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 10:49 pmHaha, "tremendous postseason" is a bit of a stretch. One big scoring game against Denver was about it.
