Trade for PJ Washington - Poll

The question here is a simple one. Would you trade Donte and Green for PJ Washington when we’re allowed to aggregate salaries starting September 10? I continue to view PJ as the one bona fide starting-caliber PF the Wolves can probably get in exchange for a Green centric package. In the case of PJ, we’d have to include Donte along with Green to make the salaries work. A side benefit of this deal would be additional cap space under the 2nd apron that would allow the Wolves to use the full taxpayer MLE on a free agent on a 13th player before using the vet minimum for a 14th. But of course, the longer-term cap implications would be a bit dicey.

I don't think we should be in favor of TC making any more moves that will affect the future of this team. THe only trade he has made that I can get behind is when he brought in conley. Everything else has been a step back in the talent level and ultimate success of this team. He literally plugs one hole while opening two others. We gave up NAW for next to nothing, then traded away two starting caliber PFs for a mediocre PG with injury problems. Lamelo has not improved in any measure throughout his career.

If it makes you feel better, he actually gave up NAW for the right to keep Julius and Naz, only to trade them for LaMelo.

Undecided, I'm leaning no just based on the size of the contract and how important Donte was at least pre injury. If Evans somehow turns into a good 3&D on a cheap three year contract, I would consider it more.

Boston moved Brown due to personality clashes not tax apron issues. Paul George makes about 4 mil less. If you are going to compare OKC to the wolves you should also include that moving 3 rotation players left them with 10 rotation players. Their coach does a better job of spreading minutes and developing players.

I think it was more getting out of his contract now rather than waiting to try to do so after staring at each other over the looming extension.

Still a shit return for Boston. Especially when you consider that they bolstered another contender in their own conference.

They would've been better off figuring out a deal with Portland, Denver, or Orlando.

I think Ayo is the better guard and PJ the better PF .

Despite the lopsided no vote here (I'm one of them), I think this is a tough call for a lot of us. I recognize we can't move Ayo until December, but I will ask this question: what would you rather give up for PJ, Donte/Green or Ayo alone? As much as I like Ayo, I think long term giving up two wings hurts us more. That's why I'll repeat that my preference is to start the season with a PF trio of Lyles, Love (or another free agent), and Jaden. If it works, don't even think about trading for PJ. But if it doesn't, propose an Ayo for PJ straight up trade. I recognize that would leave us thinner at the wing position until Donte returns, but I think it would only be for 2-3 months.
