House Money - Wolves at Cavs GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

It's pretty hard to imagine a better start for this Wolves team than what we've seen in the first 3 games. They have the #1 defense with Rudy anchoring the middle and everyone else willing and able to defend their guy and play a scrambling style. I'm not sure which side of the ball is more fun to watch -- the offense or the defense?!?

Lots of intriguing matchups tonight. The backcourt of ANT/Melo vs Harden/Mitchell, Jaden vs Watson, and the frontcourt of JK/Rudy vs Mobley/Allen. Wolves have the rest disadvantage and dogs by 4.5 points. A loss tonight would not be surprising, but we all hope the magic through the first 3 games continues. The bench might be the until that tips the game in the Wolves favor.

ANT is listed as questionable with "right knee injury maintenance". I would rather see him rest, but I think he is stubborn about these things...

This doesn't affect everyone, but is a nice bonus for those us with DirecTV. It will be very nice for me when the Wolves play the Spurs, when it is otherwise blacked out for me!

Tim, the defense has been the story of these opening three games so far. It's both a combination of new personnel (Kuminga>Randle on that end) and everyone just being locked in and committed, with Shannon showing the biggest leap in improvement. Fun to see and more sustainable than hoping we out-shoot opponents every night.

Very worried about this from the perspective this is happening after just three games and after a full offseason of rest and treatment! OK, so he sits tonight, but if a day of rest was the answer, we already know it's just a temporary respite. The discomfort and how it affects his play (whether he's willing to admit it or not) could weigh on the season and beyond.

If Ant is out, I wanna see Shannon in there starting and depending on what you need, Clark for defense and Bones for offense.

I think Ayo starts just because he's been the utility guy so far, meaning he comes in first almost no matter who needs to be subbed for due to foul problems or otherwise (unless it's Rudy). He just seems like a chameleon in how he can blend into any number of lineups whereas Shannon is best utilized as a lead ball handler, which isn't needed as much if Ball is starting. IDK, we'll see what happens!

For better or worse, ANT is in.

Yeah, let's hope he doesn't weigh down the offense or defense by laboring up and down the floor and not being able to stay in front of people.

Or may be we have enough weapons where him being more of a catch and shoot guy/floor spacer/decoy allows him to still be an asset out there. He has to play the part though.

Once again just an outstanding defensive start. Ant playing within the flow so far and looks solid out there.
