We're getting close to the halfway mark and still remarkably in the race, so we should be keeping an eye on injuries. I think we can all agree that this team has been very healthy from a position player standpoint...let's hope that continues. But pitching has been another story.
1) Hughes and Santiago are on the mend and had successful outings in their first outings yesterday. I think both will be ready to help us in a week to 10 days...Hughes in the bullpen, and Santiago back in the rotation. Santiago was quite effective prior to getting hurt, and I think he could be an effective third option behind Santana and Berrios.
2) However, Glen (the Iron Horse) Perkins has suffered a setback and will be shut down for a couple weeks. I don't think we can expect him to help our bullpen at all this year. But he will have time to hang out more with Nikola Pekovic...

Re: Injury update
I gave the club some greif for taking Melotakis off the 40 man. I've talk to multiple people that he was released because he's lost nearly 5-6 mph from his fastball and is sitting at 89-90 mph and not 96 mph. Melotakis is turning 27 I believe so he is getting to that point we're you have to make a decision on him evntually. If this is indeed true and I have no reason not to believe it. I understand why he was cut.
