Cuts, waiver claims and final roster thread

Post by Monster »

So far no real surprises in the first round of cuts. I sent a text to my good friend who is a Packers fan that Bostick is available. Lol Banyard is a guy that probably is good enough to be on a roster but the Vikings just don't have room for a guy like that right now. He seems to be a guy that's at least decent at everything but probably not flashy enough. Maybe he ends up on the PS again.

Has anyone seen and interesting cuts from other teams? I haven't really looked but it's the first round of cuts so...

To me it all comes down to the Sherels, Diggs and even Thielen battle/decision. Do we keep 6 CB's since Sherels is a good punt returner and one of our gunners in punt coverage? Or do we keep one of the two wideouts as the 5th guy who does the punt returning? Can we really have 11 WR/CB's on the roster? I was always under the impression you kept 9, maybe 10 if you were comfortable with your depth elsewhere and the 9th guy had to do special teams (maybe I'm wrong about this one). Has Diggs done any slot work? Is he possibly the successor to Wright when Wright's deal is up after this year?

Wallace/Johnson/Wright/Patterson/Thielen or Diggs

Rhodes/Newman/Waynes/Captain/Robinson/Sherels

I think Sherels is safe and they keep all 6 wideouts.

Keep in mind Robinson is hurt so he doesn't count on the final roster. Price won't count either since he has a 2 game suspension. Personally I doubt Robinson is still on the te when he ends up being healthy but it doesn't really hurt to keep him around in case there are injuries or someone flat out sucks or whatever. Robinson likely gets paid more if he is on the roster and the Vikings seem to be doing right by guys who get hurt doing something related to football. They seem to like Josh Thomas so I think he makes the cut.

It sounds like Washington might actually move on from RG3 one way or another. I wonder what QB starved team gives him a shot.

Nothing too shocking today for the Vikings all though I am surprised Prater and Josh Thomas both got cut. Unless there is a surprise that still leaves them with 5 cbs and it's only 2 weeks that Price is suspended.

I'll be surprised if they don't pick up one Olineman with more experience. It seems that Thompson needs work and quite a few fans don't really think Yanky is up to the task. PFF said Shepard had a nice preseason. :)
