I am not sure why we have not tried this. Norv was horrible OC for this team.

Lol Patterson is breaking DB tackles, not linebacker and DL tackles. Everyone is a good running back if they only have to deal with the third level of the defense.

He certainly is not the the future, but might have been our best back this year.

I will be very surprised to see him wearing purple next season.

They could have done it but he wouldn't have had more success than McKinnon and Asiata. Sure he would in theory have more home run threat than those guys but he would have just gotten hit behind or at the line of scrimmage too. I'd rather keep developing him as a WR which he was actually successful at this year than playing RB. We weren't so desperate at RB as the Packers were to have to try anything at RB.
As for whether he is back next year...idk I would think after what he was able to do this year the Vikings would have plenty of interest in bringing him back. The question is how much money does each side have in mind? Why would you want him back?
-Best KR in football that's worth a couple million probably.
-Turned into a terrific special teams player. A lot of WRs make rosters just based on ST ability over other guys.
-He turns 26 in March so he is still a pretty young player. There is some upside there
-on pace for over 50 catches this year and was actually somewhat productive as a legit WR.
What is that all worth? I do not know. I'd be willing to give him a bigger contract than they gave Jarius Wright. On the other hand Moritz could be the guy they see as a possible replacement for Patterson as a big athlete that could do KR and be a physical freak on ST and he would be absurdly cheap. It will be interesting to see what the Vikings do with their WR position. Suddenly they have talent there it's a nice change from having such a pathetic group from years past.

It will be. If we draft another WR I will pissed. Patterson seems like a perfect 3rd down back if he would be able to block. For him I honestly hope he leaves. I would love to see him unleashed in a good system for him. I am not sure he is smart enough, but I could see him being killer with Patriots or Chip Kelly making the most of his skills.
