Any ranking that doesn't have Fenway ranked 1st needs to be immediately discarded...there is simply no better place to watch a baseball game.

And I'm stunned at Petco being ranked #1! It's just not fun to watch a game with a stadium only half filled with silent fans. Somehow I think this ranking had to be influenced by the weather there.

They did get many of them right though. I haven't been to US Cellular so I can't comment, but I agree with the other four in the bottom 5. Nice to have Target Field ranked in the top 10. I wanted us ranked higher, but the only park in the top 10 I would move out would be Kaufman.

So a couple people got together and wrote what their rankings were. Neat. I was looking up a bunch of these rankings because a friend of mine was telling me a few weeks ago he has heard from people that were not impressed with Target field. I'm not exactly sure what they were looking for/expecting. It seems nice but so don't have a wealth of ballparks to compare it too.

LST have you been to Kauffman?

I have been to Target Field, Miller Park, Fenway, Coors, Petco, Minute Maid, and Wrigley. Wrigley is the only place I have paid to visit. It ranks #1 for me. I was not impressed with Fenway even though my seats were awesome. I think TF ranks ahead of the rest I mentioned and would put it in front of Fenway. I attend the soccer games last night at US Bank Stadium. It is much improved from the dome, but the cell reception and lake of escalators to get to different levels seems to be a problem. It really seemed choppy to me and hard to get around unless you are on the first level. (was sitting in one of the Cabin suites and nobody working at the park knew how we could get to them) I think it looks like a cool place to watch a game, but without the tailgating experience we would have had in Arden Hills I will probably stay home unless someone gives me tickets.

I haven't, monster (it's the only one I commented on that I have not been to), and maybe I'm being unfair to that park. But I did go to the previous ball park that was built on the opposite side of the parking lot from it, and even though it was highly regarded, I didn't like it very much...not fond of parks built out in the suburbs. I have a personal preference for downtown stadiums with a beautiful skyline view...that's why I like Pittsburgh's stadium so much but am not so fond of Anaheim or KC.

I was there, too. A few quirks. A couple of "what the fucks?" But so much better than the Metrodome that I think people will take the trade-off... once the sticker shock price dissipates a bit.

I've been to Kauffman a number of times dating back to the 90's till back right after they redid the park a number of years ago. I always liked the fountains in the outfield. Maybe they were/are cheesy but I liked them. Now things are updated it looks pretty good. I'm not a tailgating guy (vegetarian) but I have heard from various sources outside of local people from the region that KC tailgating is a special experience because of the KC BBQ etc. Would I put Kauffman in my top 10? No (I've only been to a couple MLB parks) but it seems like a number of serious baseball people have a significant affinity for it for one reason or another which I suppose is a little surprising. My favorite moment there was watching Molitor get his 3,000th hit (a triple) with my brother.

Pittsburghs stadium is outstanding. It's the only stadium where I have actively sought seats higher up in the stands in order to view the skyline. The placement is perfect.

Yeah, Pittsburgh is really underrated as a beautiful downtown, and PNC brings it out nicely.

Monster, I think I put too much weight on the quality of the fans as part of the entire baseball experience, and I rate KC's fans quite high. (Quality of fans is one of the reasons I rate Fenway so high and Anaheim and San Diego so low) And I agree with you about the fountains...I kinda like them. But as a fellow veggie like yourself, the tailgating doesn't do much for me, and even though the parking is convenient, I'm not a fan of a ballpark surrounded by a big parking lot.

Good thread...baseball is unique in how much the park can impact your enjoyment. Things are more generic in football and basketball, although Lambeau and Staples do stand out in those sports.

Nice another veggie. I agree the place is just surrounded by parking lots. It's nice for getting to the place you are watching the sporting even and hanging out beforehand etc but yeah not great for aesthetics. Haymarket park where the Huskers and the Saltdogs play is a really nice venue considering what it is. The University and the city have done a nice job building up the downtown area and it's fun to see the downtown areas from all the sporting venues.

What's so unique about baseball is the actual dimensions of the playing field can actually be different. Take a step back and think about it and it sounds sort of insane. I mean can you imagine if you had different sized basketball courts at each arena or different football field dimensions? That's not a reasonable comparison but it is odd but also what makes it a unique and fun sport and allows the places teams play to have something special about them plus it can have an effect on how you build your roster. Fun stuff.
