Nick Burdi

I don't know if you guys are following Burdi, but he sure is an exciting prospect. He's the fireballing reliever we drafted (second round?) this year out of Louisville...maybe you saw him in the CWS. When we drafted him, he was pronounced major league ready and it was suggested that we might see him in the Show this year. They assigned him to Cedar Rapids in A ball, and he sure didn't look ready in his first outing on June 29...walked all four batters he faced before being replaced, and all eventually scored! But he got rid of his jitters after that, and has been completely dominant since then, striking out the side in both of his one inning stints. Last night he hit 101 on the gun, and the scary thing is they say he hasn't yet topped out in velocity. Could he be the first major league pitcher to hit 105? I see him as our 8th inning guy as early as next year, and eventually Perk's replacement. Great draft pick!
