Anyone else happy and sad at the same time to see Morneau back in MVP form for the Rockies?

Damn Colorado. Stealing Cuddyer and Morneau from the Twin Cities. At least they can mash out there. Target Field's too big.

Difference this year in Morneau is the ball park but also his split against lefties so far. Batting .350 7/22 with a home run and 6 rbi. Compared to 2013 where he was batting .207 with 2 home runs the whole year.

To me it's a win win. I'm happy for Morneau because he seems like a good guy, but I'm also happy that he's gone. Mauer needed to move away form catcher, and there wasn't any room for Morny in the lineup if we wanted to play Colabello and Pinto. Morneau is hitting, but I'd rather have Cola and Pinto in the lineup.

Not me. I'll take Mauer behind the dish, Morneau at first and Bello DH'ing. Not to mention had we re-signed Morneau, he'd be a way better trade chip this season once his value was restored a lot.

Oh well. It's in the past. Just good to see him playing good baseball again. The should-be two-time MVP had a rough couple of years there.

Another great start for the Twins starters.

I'm beginning to realize what the Yankees realized...Hughes' problem wasn't the dimensions in Yankee Stadium, it's belt high fastballs over the plate. I winced when he served that one up to Miggy...astonished it stayed in the park.

But you're asking for something that wasn't going to happen. The Twins made a decision that Mauer wasn't going to catch anymore, and they are so firm with that they won't even consider him as an emergency third catcher...that's why we're stuck with Hermann on the roster. I will always think that the lack of emotion demonstrated by Morneau/Mauer in the middle of our lineup had a lot to do with our mediocrity. One of them had to go, and nobody would take on Mauer's contract. It always bothers me when a player trots back to the dugout without emotion after a bad at bat, and that's what the M boys do. When Hrbek, Puckett and Gaetti had a bad at bat, they showed that they cared...and that rubs off on teammates. It's one of the reasons I
prefer Pinto over Morneau in the lineup...Pinto seems to take it personally when a pitcher bests him. Colabello is the same way, and so is Arcia. And Sano might be the least like Mauer/Morneau of all the newcomers. The future is bright.

After a poor first inning, Hughes has looked really sharp in 2-4. I think I have him figured out. He seems to have no movement on his fastball, so he needs to nibble with it and throw his plus curveball for strikes. His curveball has such a sharp break on it, he has a lot more margin of error with it than he does with his fastball.

Now, we need to get the bats going...

I need to eat a little crow about my comment above about Yankee Stadium. I think there have been three fly balls this game that are homers in NY...here, one double and two fly outs. Very promising.
