I'm gonna miss him, I've had about 7 conversations with him and has been nothing but nice to me. He was always a straight shooter, I just wish some of these young guys will pan out because he did build one hell of a farm system. The problem with the Twins right now is whenever someone comes up from the minors they almost never perform right away.

I can't imagine Ryan fighting over Plouffe, seeing that Sano is the new 3B and Plouffe has been injured a lot this year. I also have trouble believing that he had a problem "selling high" on Nunez with Polonco, then Gordon, waiting. I think it was about Dozier and Ervin Santana, and also the decision to send Bosher to Rochester instead of May.

Don't get me started on Boshed. Tbh the man should be our closer, he has one of the dirtiest curves you'll ever see.

I wonder if some ppl in that front office are starting to give up on Buxton, I sure hope not but he's still showing no signs of improving his bat.

He didn't want to give up on Gomez. But if you remember that was the first year of the stadium and they paid guys like Thome and Hudson to make a run.

It's odd to me that that is what he would be MOST upset about. Hardy played well for MIL and BAL, and probably would have played well for the Twins if they hadn't given up on him.

I'm surprised I think more than anything the timing.

I wondered at what point it was time to move on from TR even though I have a lot of respect for him. He is 63 and walked away once already. How long was he really planning to stay as the top guy?

Like it's been mentioned maybe there was some difference of opinion on what to do going forward maybe not just with the trade deadline but beyond that. As I have said a few times before the Teins are in a tough position. They have some solid to good established players but the young and still seem a year away from being the guys to help them take the next step. Their top pitching prospects haven't done anything yet. Guys like Buxton and Sano were supposed to be Towns and Wiggins or at least Lavine types by now but Sano probably has been the most promising and he has been more Lavine than even Wiggins level talent. Santana is probably their best pitcher and they should probably deal him. Whoever would be making the decisions is going to be making some tough decisions. It may be time to look for someone with a new vision.

That decision was odd to me. All the young players got sent down when they weren't getting it down except for May.

So the question becomes who should replace him?

I say whomever is Theo Epstein's Right-hand-man. Or Jonah Hill.

Someone outside the Twin Organization. I've heard the search is going to start up soon. I wonder just how far they are willing to go to make changes. Will they just bring in a new guy and basically have everyo else stay or have a guy and shake things up a lot more. I am not as familiar with how much gets changed of MLB franchises when they hire new top baseball guys and it's also a much much bigger Otha organization than NBA or NFL since you have all the minor league teams.

I don't think this is going to be a wholesale house-cleaning. Bruce Haynes isn't going anywhere (and how many teams can say they employ the last-owner's nephew?).

But I like this Jonah Hill. I saw somewhere that he did a really good job for the A's.

Good man and good baseball man, but the decision is correct...not enough recent success to justify keeping him on. We don't know the specifics, but it seems Jim Pohlad preferred Antony over him to make the mid-year decisions. I wish they had someone from outside the organization to make these decisions, but time doesn't permit it.

As for Sano/Plouffe, what makes us think Sano should be our 3rd baseman? With 7 errors in his last 9 games, Sano is killing us over there. I think he proved in the minors he wasn't a third baseman, and I thought the Twins realized that when they made him an outfielder. He was clumsy out there too, but even though it was a new position for him, he wasn't hurting us nearly as bad in RF as 3B. I don't know what to do with him now...it's a mess.

Pohlad: "Maybe the light should have gone on earlier. But the light went on and we need to look at our org and the way we do things."

Does anyone else see some parallels between what Glen Taylor did this year and what the Polads may end up doing? Both will ultimately end up replacing legacy figures and it seems likely both are now going to go outside the organization and shake things up. Gonna be interesting.

Both what the Polads and Glen did were also a bit of a shock as well.
