I pretty much am excited about every pick. I am still pissed we didn't select Desmond King in 5th. He was my guy and he was great for the Chargers last year.
I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday afternoon and Chris Canty was telling how he was fortunate to be drafted in the 4th round by the cowboys. He said he had a dislocated knee his senior year where he tore all those ligaments. Then when he was working out to get prepared for the draft and he went out and he was at a bar where an altrication happened and he had a glass bottle cut him on his face and he ended up with a detactched retina. So he said it was tough going into those draft interviews. He couldn't work out for teams his face was all messed up and is character was being questioned. I had not heard about all that before. I thought it was an interesting story for a few reasons.
Listening this AM to PA. They were talking we need a 3-Technique and Nickel CB for next year.
Hopefully Jaleel is the answer at 3-Technique and Alexander can be the answer at Nickel, but think we need to invest some $'s and/or draft picks into those positions. Sadly Desmond King would have been the answer at Nickel and would have been a huge upgrade in the secondary. Zimmer would have been loving life with him and Harrison Smith as blitz options from DB position.
He's better than Keenum and Teddy IMO, but Bradford is elite if he could stay on the field. Anyways, the QB doesn't matter at all if the defense is going to shit the bed like they did in Philly. Tom Brady wasn't going to win with that defense.
I think it's likely McKinnon is gone if there is any market for RBs that at worst are split share situations. He seems to be looking for more of a starting role and I can't blame him. The Giants don't really have a RB do that and his OC happens to be the coach there. Coming back here he has Cook in front of him and a new OC so he doesn't know how he will be used. McKinnon isn't a game breaker guy but he is a really useful and versatile guy that could be missed. I think Murray restructures taking less money and comes back assuming the Vikings want him back. Murray already said he wants to come back and he is solid but I don't think any other team is gonna pay him a ton of money.
Can the Vikings draft sign or find a McKinnon replacement as a pass catching back? Cook is gonna play a lot but it's nice to have some players behind him. I've always liked McKinnon and he was pretty good this year and despite PFF ranking him high I don't think he is a high end starter but a good player to have. It seems like there are always solid RB talents available around so hopefully we can get a worthwhile guy one way or another.
I like McKinnon a lot too, but just don't know if he can be anything more than he was here which is a nice 2nd back. Giants would be a good landing spot for him but think he will not find many takers on open market. Just wait he will land with Patriots and have a crazy year.
Smith is better then Bradford. Bradford is a statue.
I would be in on Smith depending the price tag of course. I wanted him before he went to KC. Heck we have a good defense (sometimes). We just need solid QB play with Cook coming back (hopefully near 100%). And a little OLine help/depth.
