Re: Vikings 2018 Offseason
If Dez came cheap and didn't have the attitude and ego I would take him. But obviously he doesn't. I think his game has dropped a bit and he would be a headache not worth having.

That's an interesting thought.
I don't think Cushing is all that good anymore and health is a problem.
Another consideration is how much would either of those LBs play? Bowman is likely a better player than Gedeon but Gedeon played less that 25% of snaps. If Bowman is healthy I think he might still cost a decent chunk of money. I think the Vikings need to find cheap young LBs. You don't have to have top draft picks to find good guys either.

Agreed - I think we need to draft a young LB with upside. If I am the Vikings I am thinking Barr is getting going to have to get a lot better to be worth the 12M he is projected to be paid. Zimmer has proven he will start rookie LBs. So either we get a young LB to groom this year or draft one next year. I would love to get one of the following 3 in the draft. Leighton Vander Esch, Fred Warner, or Oren Burks.

Speaking of LBs Kendrick's got extended 5 years 50 million with 25 million guaranteed. It will be interesting to see how it breaks down. He was scheduled to make just 1.6 million this year so now he has life changing money.

Just saw this. That is a rich contract. 11 LB's making over $5M a year. I don't see how you pay him that much and Barr nearly the same. The contract might be a 3 year $25M deal. If we can play 9M this year and 8M a year the next 2 years that is something we can handle.

Re: Vikings 2018 Offseason
I'm all on board for bringing in Bowman. He wouldn't have to play much and I'm all about bringing in the knowledge of a guy who was the best player at his position for a couple years especially after we just invested in Kendricks long-term. Give him the Chad Greenway treatment. Cushing is a doper who's gonna get suspended at some point. Not worth pursuing IMO.

Here are the Kendrick's contract details.

https://overthecap.com/player/eric-kendricks/3893/
So basically they only added about 2 million this season so they have some space to get at least another long term deal done and Kendrick's is now locked in for 6 years.

Interesting contract. They are going to need some cap magic. I am thinking if things go well next year we will see Cousin restructure.

I think Kendrick's contract makes sense because the cap is supposed to keep going up around 10 million a year. The cap magic they need is being able to to replace some vets with younger cheaper players although some restructuring can always help and will likely happen.
