Happy Buxton Day everybody

15 mil base salary

Buxton will earn $8MM if he wins MVP honors, $7MM for a second-place finish, $6MM for third, $5MM for fourth, $4MM for fifth, and $3MM if he finishes anywhere from sixth to tenth place in the voting.

Also 500k for hit PA threshold

That means max he will make 24 mil in a year

Jason Heyward and Donaldson make 23 mil to put that in context. I'm just saying if he's healthy for a season you can't tell me he's not worth the contract

Let's all hope he makes that $24 million. If he does, we're going to have a lot of fun watching this guy play ball. I watched my favorite Buxton play of last season with my son on back in June. He hit a routine ground ball to short...not especially hard hit, but not a dribbler either. My son commented that it might be a close play. And when the camera panned to first, Buck was 10 feet past the bag when the throw got there. We just looked at each other and shook our heads in amazement. Stay healthy, Buck!

Now that we have Buck signed, we need the Pohlad's to spend some more of their $4 billion net worth and sign Buck's buddy Shorty Stroman and Mike Pineda. Back in the pennant conversation.

So much for Robbie Ray and reports the Twins were in on him. One day will be in on a pitcher and get him.

Carlos Rodon please and then trade for one of the Reds or Athletic Pitchers and sign Pineda. Re-sign Simmons and bullpen help with the rest of the money and Lets go.

I think with this contract It's a good gamble for the Twins and it makes me not want to have traded him. Honestly I think this is actually a pretty good gamble for Buxton also. He gets a a nice chunk of guaranteed money and if somehow he stays healthy he will make plenty of cash. I think to get significantly more than what this contract would be he would have to REALLY bet on himself and forgo getting much guaranteed money.

Well, Jake Cave is finally off the 40-man. Let's all take a moment to celebrate that minor victory. The Twins have done a good job so far of taking out the trash, or removing it from the end of their bench.

Also, Matthew Boyd was non-tendered. That would be a reasonable buy-low opportunity I'd be interested in for the Twins.

Good times! The positive is that Cave decided to stay with the Twins organization instead of become a FA which seems smart for him as nobody claimed him on waivers and quite frankly the Twins are an injury or 2 away from him playing in the majors. It's also possible he rediscovers whatever competence he used to have or has a hot spring and makes the opening day roster. Looks like the way things stand the Twins now have a single spot on their 40 man roster. I'd guess there are a couple guy's names written in pencil or some of that fancy erasable ink

I been looking at Luis Castillo trade possibilities

Would you guys do a

Jordy Blaze #88 prospect and Kepler for Castillo

Castillo has this year and one more year of arbitration he currently makes 7.5 million

I think reds would do this because there getting a top 100 prospect back and they have hole on right field with Castellanous leaving

I really like Luis Castillo for this Twins team if they're going shopping, and I certainly have no issues with including Max Kepler in trades, but that's probably a no for me. I think Jordan Balazovic has frontline potential and wouldn't move him if I was Derek Falvey.

I'd probably counter with Simeon Woods-Richardson as I'm lower on him than most (but not down on him either).

Twins signed Dylan Bundy. Better have some moves other than this if you want to compete! Bundy ain't it.
