My point is that I'm sure the Pacers would be able to find a suitor for Buddy if they dealt Turner to the Wolves for Beasley. I think Beasley makes more sense than Buddy for the Pacers. He's younger and has a more team-friendly contract. Beasley and Naz would be a nice return for the injury-plagued Turner. Then the Pacers could turn around and get value from a contending team for Buddy. I'm a Beasley fan and I'm not personally anxious to see the Wolves trade him. But I can see how it would make sense to get a player like Turner in return and provide more development opportunity for Nowell, Bolmaro and Moore. And there's an argument that the Wolves would actually be better with Nowell displacing Beasley in the rotation.

Lip I think you may be underestimating how many teams are going to avoid having contracts for the 2023 offseason. It might be stupid for many teams to do that (possibly even the Wolves) but I think it's going to be a thing. No joke I think some teams if they want to move players with contracts beyond this season they may have to give up more (or get back less attractive assets) to make it happen. Meanwhile Indiana can probably live with Buddy on their roster next year as they will be well below the cap anyways. I think they probably hold onto him as some sort of asset instead of dumping him to save cap space next year. Although having another nearly 20 million in space may end up being an asset in and of itself since they could be a landing spot for teams wanting to dump players to get farther under the cap etc. Anyways it will be interesting to see if Indiana goes full rebuild and basically trades away anyone over the age of 26 while having a future HOF coach in Carlisle.

If you're right, then having Buddy on their roster shouldn't deter the Pacers from dealing for Beasley. One way or another, I can see Indiana having an interest in trading Myles for Malik. I suspect the Pacers would want something else in return and maybe Naz would be enough. As for what the would do with Buddy, who knows. I wouldn't underestimate the motivation of win-now teams like the Sixers, Heat, Clippers and Lakers to have a lot of interest in adding a veteran sharp-shooter like Buddy Hield.

I'm sure all those teams would have interest in Heild. A problem is most of those teams don't have matching salaries for a guy at his salary.

I personally think giving up Naz and Beasley in that deal is too much hit i suppose that deal as constructed leaves a roster spot open to sign a solid player to replace Naz since we would need sometime to play when Turner is hurt.

I tend to agree with you. If they don't get something worthwhile then why deal him?

I'd still love to see Minnesota work out a trade with Sacramento for Harrison Barnes. The fit remains attractive to me given Barnes' size, proficiency as a perimeter shooter, defensive versatility, and willingness to play within his role. I'd consider offering Malik Beasley and a future first-round pick for Barnes.

And if Barnes was acquired, the Wolves wouldn't have as big of a need in signing a hybrid forward in free agency, to include Taurean Prince. That money could be spent on a veteran big like Serge Ibaka, Andre Drummond, Montrezl Harrell, etc.

If the trade I suggested is what is required to get down to expirings and rookie deals, they'll do it. Turner has been on the trading block since what, 2008? And MIN is the one who is going to cave? I hope not.

Keep Beasley, sell high on Beverley. Sell on Reid.

Barnes would be an upgrade over Prince, plus he doesn't lock us into a long-term contract. The part that gives me heartburn is giving up the 1st to go along with Beasley. Not sure a 2nd rounder is enough though either.

I like Barnes, but I wouldn't give up a future 1st and Beasley for him.

At the risk of sounding disrespectful, every offseason and/or trade deadline, some blogger is like "Oooh Harrison Barnes" and nothing ever happens. He Vivek's guy. Again, do you really want your team to be the one that out-bids everyone else for HARRISON BARNES?
