I finally watched some video of Dyson Daniels. Idk what to think as maybe my expectations were maybe too high. Lol
The 3 point shots he made looked fine but some of them looked pretty slow. He first stretch of games he shot under 35% on FTs but during the showcase he shot over 73%. I can't just ignore the first ones he missed though.
He has nice length but he plays a little stiff and upright. Maybe it's fine but he looks a little awkward and less fluid than I was expecting. With his size I like his floor as a guy that can probably do shit but he has to be compelling because the Wolves have a somewhat similar player in Balmaro already on the roster. Dyson needs to be dynamic. The Wolves aren't going to get him so it doesn't matter and I can certainly see some basis for getting excited about Dyson but like I said I was expecting a little more.
I'll say here though that I do believe that guys his age and experience playing against G-league competition is plenty solid. I think the competition in terms of sheer talent game in game out is probably a better measurement than college especially depending on what conference someone plays in. As more times goes by we may see that play out more. There will be some more guys staying in college that maybe would have came out because they can make money on their likeness but I don't think that's going to affect the G-league talent pool much. Plus it seems likely more really high level young players that otherwise would have gone to college are going to continue to choose that route.

I agree that Dyson Daniels is not without some warts when it comes to shooting, and hopefully that is something that will develop a bit, but its on low volume and his passing and defense are strengths. LaMelo took a lot of heat for bad shooting, but he's turned out OK. My biggest worry with both ANT and McDaniels was their subpar shooting percentages and I love both players now. I think there are some other decent point guard options in this draft if we don't get Daniels. I've been really warming up to Kennedy Chandler as I've watched more and more video of him as he is just so aggressive on both sides of the ball. I also love what Andrew Nembhard brings in that I think he'd be a great fit here as he is in the Tyus Jones and Monte Morris mold but has more length. He's a terrific floor general, passer and a high IQ player and solid defender and he is projected to be available in the middle of the second round.

I had to remind myself who Nembhard was. I was pretty sure I liked him but watching some video yeah I'll take him in the 2nd round.
