I had to fast forward it in the 3rd... but damn... am I glad that I turned it on for the final 5 minutes. Not because it was exciting or good basketball. The Wolves were mostly terrible. The Rockets were trying to lose and told John Wall they'd break his legs if he didn't throw the game, right? RIGHT?!?
That was the worst two-way basketball I may have ever seen. Some of those back-and-forth fuckups were comically bad.
Good gawd. Everybody is worse for having played that game. Or watched it.
YUCK.

1. Rubio. I don't think I've ever seen an NBA player miss more layups than Ricky over the course of his career. We saw that again last night. No doubt he's significantly better now than he was at the beginning of the season. But that's still not good enough. We are well beyond any Covid explanation right now. The fact is that Rubio, who has never been super quick, has lost a step since his first stint with the Wolves. I'd add that his passing isn't as crisp and his decision-making isn't as good. I can't explain it and in my view it's not worth explaining. I'll just come back to my opinion on draft day that trading for Ricky was a bad idea. Maybe he's helped Ant, but I have my doubts since the Ant we've seen this season is the same player we saw in college.
2. Ant. Once again, Ant put on another clinic in inefficient shooting. If Ant's shots aren't falling at a high rate, he's a significant net negative to the team. Last night confirmed for me that LaMello Ball will AND SHOULD win rookie of the year honors this season. Ant is definitely gifted, but he has a long, long way to go.
3. Culver. I know he didn't play, but that's the point. Was he hurt again? In any event, I can't think of a bigger negative from last night's game than the fact that our #6 pick in the draft before last season didn't get even one minute of court time in a game when Okogie wasn't available and all the other guards and wings were putrid.
Meanwhile, we continue to wait for the triumphant returns of DLO and Beasley to carry us out of the bottom three and ensure that we won't keep our 2021 draft pick.
