Game 7... those guys were gassed. Still entertaining despite the sloppiness.
I didnt mind it. Some duke it out playoff ball. The 3rd was really hard to watch. The 4th was better. Gobert v Jokic is a great contrast of styles.
I sort of enjoyed the 3rd... Utah wasn't sharp... but Mitchell, Conley, Gobert and crew willed themselves back into that game.
Especially Mitchell. You could feel his desperation and energy through the screen. And ultimately, it left him with nothing down the stretch when his team needed him. The guy is a gamer. Utah fans should be excited to have him.
Now the question is does he stick around after the playoff collapse and all the COVID shit that team dealt with at the forefront with Rudy. They blew this series big time and he's not on great terms with their other core piece.
1. I don't know if it was a typical collapse. Yeah... 3 - 1... but the Nuggets were simply better. And that's even before Bogdonavic decided to skip the restart. The guy is their best shooter and averaged 20 ppg. Jordan Clarkson was the team's 2nd best player at times in this series. (He was a bench player for 60+ loss Cleveland teams.) Jamal Murray could counter with Nikola Jokic. Big, big difference.
2. I think the Jazz would be much more willing to part with Gobert than Mitchell. Gobert came on in the 2nd half yesterday, but we saw again earlier in the series how his best attributes can be neutralized a bit in the playoffs. I was actually alarmed at how much time Gobert spent being knocked down in the past couple of games. It was like he was roller skates at times.
Gobert is 100% gone. He is eligible for the super max assuming he made all nba over Bam. He's not a super max player. He has been put on the bench in series past against smaller teams in the Rockets and Warriors. Then struggled in a better matchup in the nuggets against Jokic. He isn't with 40+ million a year.
Gobert helps them in the regular season no doubt just think they are looking at a mini rebuild.
*it's another reason I'm worried about taking Wiseman when a top 4 center in the NBA in Gobert isn't worth a 3rd contract and is struggling in the playoffs.
Starting Centers left in the playoffs.
Mcgee (min guy)
Adams or tucker (a boarderline to 10 C who isn't getting many minutes and a none C)
Jokic (top 3 C elite C)
Zubac (cheap young minimum guy)
Lopez (originally signed for super cheap)
Bam (top 5 center 2nd best player on his team)
Thies (cheap minimum role player)
Gasol (boarderline top 10, playing under 25 minutes a game and they close with ibaka at C more often)
