I haven't been able to participate in this thread. And the reason is I haven't watched one minute of playoff basketball this year. Not even my 2nd favorite team the Milwaukee Bucks. I just completely lost interest with the combined protests of the league and players. I appreciate the protests being peaceful and I fully support the right to do it. I also believe there is systematic racism in this country and that black lives matter. But living here in Portland, I know the movement is not peaceful and it's done irreparable damage to mine and other cities across the country.

I love basketball and hope I can regain enthusiasm for the NBA product by next season. If not I'll sit it out again and follow the Wolves through your eyes.

I'm not sure how or when this nonsense ends, which means I also don't know when you'll be able to watch an NBA game as a fan without the constant propaganda being shoved down your throat. The only thing I can say is that I hope you and your loved ones stay safe in Portland and that you have a means of self-defense should you ever need it.

Thanks man, that means a lot. I hope you and yours stay safe as well.

If the Heat had Culver instead of Herro they wouldn't be in the Finals.

Hey Cool. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As I watch what's happening in this Country lately, I'm beginning to understand how Alice must have felt when she fell down the rabbit hole. It is beyond bizarre as people spin narratives out of their own distorted sense of reality. It truly is surreal. And I completely understand why you've lost interest in the NBA. So far I've resisted my impulse to do the same, but it's not easy. Thankfully, I see find NBA basketball and draft intrigue an escape from all the unpleasant weirdness around us. I agree with all the sentiments you've expressed. And as someone with relatives in Seattle, I think I understand the situation you alluded to in Portland. I really enjoy and learn a lot from your insights. So I hope you can rekindle your interest in NBA basketball. In the meantime, stay safe. And please keep posting.

I've been watching some awesome basketball in the playoffs... and I've watched more than I thought I would have... much to my surprise.

I've also seen parts of my city looted... and even my business put in jeopardy.

Maybe it's because I really never liked most NBA players for more than being really good at basketball anyway that I've been able to separate their peaceful protests from what's happening on the court.

[Note: To be fair, watching the Lakers skate to the title is gonna make me dislike the game a lot more if that's any consolation.]

Like you, I've really enjoyed the playoffs so far this year. It helps to watch the games because you can see that the players are totally into the games without any of the outside noise affecting their play. But I can't get my self to watch the Finals. I admire the Heat for their accomplishment, but I see the Lakers sweeping this series and I can't bear to watch any of that.

I got to halftime. And that's probably it.

Dragic is hurt. And Bam might be hurt, too.

And even with those two, it wouldn't have mattered. As for those who don't dig the political aspect of this season... buckle up. The LeBron James PR Posse is gonna go into overdrive.

"Best basketball player ever? YES!!!"
"Voice of the people? YES!!!"
"The greatest man alive? YESSSSSS!"

[Note: I swear the guy is gonna be averaging triple doubles when he's 56 years old. There are multiple reasons I don't like him. But damn, he's pretty good.]

LeBron is amazing. Giannis is called the Greek Freak, but he's not half the freak that LeBron is.

I don't blame the NBA players themselves as they as far as I know didn't incite riots or looting and destruction in anyway. It would be like convicting every person who lives in the US who pays taxes for International war crimes like George Bush (who was in a Malaysian Court about 8 years ago). I don't want war overseas but I have little choice about paying certain taxes. Just as black people have little choice being black. Should I be held accountable for the crimes the US has done?
