I would have easily done that or a 1+1 deal for $10M total. Watch Hernangomez come away with 3/27.
Me too. This just shows what Rosas has in mind. He has no interest in signing a defensive big. And he has no interest in paying anyone anything close to the full MLE. Why? Because he's hell bent on having enough room under the luxury tax to sign Juancho. So he's likely low-balling other free agents, assuming that he's even making any serious offers.

With every passing hour it gives me a microscopic increment of hope that Rosas is going to give Juancho something fairly reasonable (especially in light of the stupid spending so far) in terms of a deal.
Noel...I like him but apparently the league doesn't for some reason. The 5 million the Knicks gave him is literally the most he will have ever made in a single season. To be honest that's probably about what I would pay him too but I'll admit to be someone that's always a big fan of waiting and signing guys late instead of blowing money early...unless the guy is obviously worth it.
I think it's pretty clear that Rosas is letting the market set the price for PF's so he can get Juancho at hopefully a discounted rate. Also Juancho is quite a lot better than most FA PF's on the market, look at his shooting in MN offensive system when he came over. Only players worth adding IMO other than Juancho would be H. Giles or B. Portis and that would be highly dependent on price. I guess RHJ peaks my interest slightly. I watched all the tape I could find on O. Spellman and he is probably better than most of you think. Vanderbilt is a wild card but has interesting upside. J. McDaniels strikes me as a D-League pipe dream that if he hits could be awesome but those chances are low.
As much as I would like to give Giles or Portis a shot, I think we retain all in house options maybe add one guy that doesn't wow anyone. MN needs to be highly proactive in scouring the D-League for guys that can play because we could find productive, young upside player if we are lucky and they would come cheap.

Portis signed for cheap with Milwaukee already.
I think people actually like Spellman well enough it's just assumed that The Wolves aren't planning on keeping him since they didn't play him at all last year and it's been reported that the plan is to move him elsewhere. Personally I would keep him but maybe the Wolves know there is still interest and can get some value for him. It would not surprise me much based on how FA Has gone so far. Just check the G-league stats and Spellman had the highest volume per 36 of anyone on the Wolves almost 9 per 36 and he hit over 40%.
On Twitter Jon K said what you did that he gets the sense that Rosas is letting things play out with Juancho. I read the Bucks checked in on Beasley so it does seem there was interest In him much more than I would have expected. His age relative potential and production as a starter in limited opportunities is intriguing for this FA class. I'll say this that if there were a couple teams willing to throw some money (Even lets say the Bucks were willing to give him say 9-10 million a year) at Beasley now then the farther away we get from the off court stuff we get (assuming no more significant issues come up) and Beasley plays fairly well...his value probably goes up.
As for the G-league McLaughlin is one guy they already found...so there is hope I guess.

Do we think he is in KAT and DLo's window though? I dont think a win now move like that properly accounts for all the losing we want to do in the future.

To trade Spellman would be quizzical to me, his value could increase if given minutes and a green light. He's way more athletic than he looks, and he shot the ball really well Villanova, shot decent not great in his rookie year with ATL and before coming to MN he was an excellent shooter with GS and carried that over in the D-League. Like I said I watched all the video's I could find on him full length D-League games and everything to really get the feel for his game and came away impressed. What was the deal with him playing in the D-League with us?

Idk exactly. Let's say the Wolves don't hate Spellman and maybe they simply wanted to see more what they had in Reid and Vanderbilt. They also played James Johnson and he played well so that may have raised his value a bit which may have been a positive. It seems like the Wolves have been looking for other PFs though if you believe any of the reporting.
