I read that news about Warren after I posted. Apparently a stress fracture that isn't healing well. I'm not sure who else Indiana could and would be willing offer with Brogdon.

I've seen the nuggets name come up a decent amount lately about a sleeper team for Simmons.

Would a Simmons for Murray trade be in the works?

Denver doesn't make much sense to me. Jokic is basically their PG and trading Murray would take away their guard that can get a shot when he needs it. Plus Murray tore his ACL in April. Simmons would be an upgrade from Gordon but I don't see the fit there because of what I would assume they would have to give up to get Simmons. Maybe Denver is interested in being part of a Simmons trade as a 3rd team. I'm not sure what they would want to get though.

It would appear to me that Denver already has a player that fits the Ben Simmons role -- albeit as a much lesser player. Aaron Gordon is their switchable, facilitating four and he just re-signed for a significant amount. Would they be willing to trade their dynamic, shot-creating guard in Jamal Murray for a player type that they may already have? I don't see it, personally. I think the Nuggets' front office is just doing their due diligence, but salary-wise they could match by offering Michael Porter Jr., Monte Morris, and Gordon. That would be an overpay, in my opinion, and a severe hit to their depth. Not to mention Porter Jr. is seen as a rising star around the league, but especially in that organization.

I can see where the Nuggets might be tempted to swap Murray for Simmons. The Nuggets get plenty of scoring, but not a lot of defense from Jokic and Michael Porter Jr. Moreover, Murray will likely be out for most of the season rehabbing his ACL. Swapping Murray for Simmons would upgrade the Nuggets' defense around Jokic and Porter Jr. while also allowing them to compete at full strength this season with a healthy Simmons instead of a sidelined Murray. Having said that, this swap wouldn't make sense for the Sixers. The fact that Murray will be out most of the season rehabbing means he wouldn't fit what I consider to be the Sixers' win-now imperative for any return they get in a Simmons deal.

I agree that the Porter Jr., Monte Morris, Aaron Gordon combo would probably be the only package the Sixers would likely be interested in. Like you, I would see that as an overpay by Denver and I don't see them doing that deal unless perhaps they'd also get Tyrese Maxey or someone else of value along with Simmons in return.

I think you are all right here. Also Gordon can't be traded just signed an extension. Just been seeing the nuggets pop up a little more lately

Thanks Cool for that tidbit. I think Ben Simmons to Portland for McCollum, Covington and picks makes sense for both teams. Simmons, plus Shake Milton and Isaiah Joe for McCollum and Cov works salarywise.

That's the one that catches my eye the most too. McCollum and RoCo are battle-tested vets whose shooting will really open up the floor more for Embiid. If I were the Sixers, I'd take that package over anything Minnesota has to offer that excludes KAT/Ant. Obviously the VanFleet/OG one makes a ton of sense for Philly too, but I can't see Toronto doing it.
